    BEST ANSWER: No. This impliments a web-printing protocol and will not work with storage devices.
    Works great on the Macs but can't make it work on the Windows 10 computers... How about some updated Windows 10 drivers Monoprice?

    BEST ANSWER: Try this:
    Don't use any drivers for Windows printers. First, use the documentation to set a static IP address on the print server, then refer to the following for configuring your printer in Windows 10. Mac should still work.
    >Select “Start” and type “advanced print” in the search box.
    >Choose “Advanced printer setup“.
    >Select “The printer that I want isn’t listed“.
    >Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.
    >Select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.
    >Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“.
    >Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

    BEST ANSWER: I'm not 100% positive, but generally, Yes. This little box turns your USB printer into a network printer..."local cloud" printer. Beware, though, that some HP models of Deskjet will turn themselves off as a power-saving feature, which disconnects from this box, which forces you to reboot the box (pull power plug, push it back in) to reconnect.

    I'm trying to set up the Networking USB 2.0 Print server to share a printer among 5 Windows machine all on the same WiFi network. The driver for the printer is installed on each laptop. I understand connecting the Print Server to the router and to the printer. My question is do I need to set up both USB_LPR and NETWORKING USB or do I only use just one of them? Do I have to set this up on each Windows machine that I want to use the printer? Thanks.

    Getting it to work
    When using as a print server the CD that comes with it is worthless DONT USE IT! It doesn't work and will waste your time.
    Here are the steps I read from another post and doing these steps allowed me to get the print server working on 2 "Windows 7" 64bit laptops and on a "Windows XP" 32bit desktop.

    1. Install printer and drivers/software first using direct USB connection. Do not use server yet. Print a test page and (optionally) test scan/fax/etc. to make sure everything is functional.
    2. Turn off printer.
    3. Plug printer into server using USB cord. Plug server into router via Ethernet cord. Plug in power to server. Power on printer.
    4. Now create TCP/IP port manually. Go to Control Panel/Devices and Printers.
    5. Right click installed printer. Select Printer Properties.
    6. Go to Ports tab. Click Add port.
    7. Select Standard TCP/IP Port. Click New Port.
    8. This opens the TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard.
    9. Enter IP address (default IP address of server). (Optional and desirable step: Assign a static IP address to the print server. I used DHCP Reserve on the Router) the Port name can be changed. I used 'USB Server'. Click next.
    10. Port detection will fail after about 30 seconds. Will need to manually enter port settings.
    11. New window opens asking for more port information. Click the Custom Radio button and open the Settings window. Change Protocol to LPR enter Queue Name as LPR1 and check box for LPR Byte Counting Enabled. Select ok.
    12. Click Next, then Finish. A new TCP/IP port has now been created.
    13. Close all windows except for Devices and Windows dialog box.
    14. Right click on printer and select Printer Properties. Open Ports tab and change back to standard USB port (USB001 on my system). You will also see the Standard TCP/IP port you just created. It will be used in the next steps. Note that in this step you are leaving the standard USB connection printer in place in the event you ever need to remove the server and make direct USB connection again.
    15. Click Add a Printer in the Devices and Printers window.
    16. Select Add a Local Printer (yeah a little odd I know)
    17. In the Use an Existing Port select the new TCP/IP port you just created (named USB Server in my example).
    18. Select your manufacturer and printer model. Click next.
    19. Click Use the driver that is currently installed. Click Next. After a few seconds you will be given the option to print a test page and set the printer as default

    These steps magically allowed my print server to start working on my host machine as well as a wireless laptop."

    Again that post was from "Anonymous from Clifton, NJ" And it worked on my Windows 7 and XP computers. Don't try to skip any of the steps. Or it will fail on you. Stopping at step 13 will cause the printer to stay in a constant disconnected state. To have to continue on with steps 14-19.

    If these steps where in the install manual and I wasn't forced to search the internet for these instructions I would have given this product a ranking of "10"

    PROS: Works Great. Does exactly what I needed it to do. Tested it and works on "Windows 7 64bit" and Windows XP.
    Small in size and easy to hide.

    CONS: CD is worthless for installing Printer
    CD was a waste of time, don't use it because it will not work.
    Printer must be manually setup which is fine but there is no instructions on how to manually install the printer.

    Doesn't work on HP Deskjet F4100
    I was able to detect, and install the printer, but it would not print. Looking at the manual, the model does not show this printer as supported. Fine.

    Monoprice should really place the compatibility list for those people looking to purchase these print servers, as it's pretty much a guess and if you guess wrong you're screwed out of $30! Also take into account the HUNDREDS of possible printers potential buyers may have in mind to use this for.

    not working
    Not a bad device but big downfall, even if you manually download the up to date drivers (im a technician for m&t bank so i know my stuff) my xerox phaser 3450, epson stylus c86 and other printers i own dont work. i realize that they are not in the list for tested printers but it shouldnt make any difference. What i dont get is that i can use the "launch network printer wizard" and it finds my printer without any issues and allows me to pick the driver (i tried the one from microsoft, as well as the manufacturers) and it will add it to the printer and faxes menu perfectly. After it adds it will allow me to go to printing prefrences and change the printers setup. But when i open the "Launch Networking USB server" program and i select "connect device" it will get into an infinite loop of the hour glass and then will say "device connect failed!!" and tells me to try to reboot the server and everything.

    This is really aggrivating. any suggestions or help would be nice. thanks

    Device disconnects after a time period
    I found this device easy to setup and works fine with several printer models I tried it on. But it randomly loses connection. I went through several PC powersave settings (PC, screen, USB). I even wrote a cyclic ping batch program hoping to "keep it awake", but found that it basically needs to be unplugged and plugged back in again for it to be recognized. Not very convenient at all.

    PROS: Works fine when it isn't disconnected

    CONS: Disconnects and requires cycling of power

    Not for you, if you have an HP 2050 Deskjet.
    Installation was simple. Once installed, you can view a list of printers it will work with. Mine was not on list, but since I had installed it, decided to try it anyway. It did not work. Had no problem returning it. Monoprice Customer Service was very accommodating. If you have an HP 2050 Deskjet, forget it.

    PROS: Easy to install.

    CONS: Does not work with all printers. List should be available to view online, before ordering, and updated as additional units become known.

    Works! (after a power cycle..)
    Seems to work great, and cam't complain about the price, however if I don't power cycle it, it will not print. I will follow Chris's instructions on how to set it up without the cd, however how do you get/configure the IP? I'll update it to a 5 if I can figure this out..

    PROS: Works great for my Dell laser printer.

    CONS: I have to power cycle it every time I want to print

    Simple little device
    I was really impressed with this little print server when I started setting it up. It was very easy and straightforward. I also like it because it's not much of an eyesore sitting nearby my printer. Will definitely recommend this to others.

    PROS: Small size, easy setup, exactly as expected.

    I absolutely love this piece. Easy to setup (read the short setup procedure available on this site...OK, it may seem a little complicated to a noob but it's really not bad). I didn't bother with the setup cd as it, apparently, isn't worth using. I was up and running in about 4 minutes (2 of that was waiting for the OS to do something it was never going to be able to accomplish).

    I can see the need for the CD for setup if you don't have a clue about networking but I never tried it so can't comment.

    PROS: It works exactly as expected. A USB printer is available on the network and at this price (cheaper than paying extra for a networked printer)

    excellent unit for putting a printer on the network
    I used two of these, with a Brother laser, and a Canon inkjet, to make them both available to everyone on my home network.

    Setup is easy, especially if you are comfortable with router configuration. Performance is great, I have no complaints whatsoever. And they've been running (under normal household use) for more than a year, trouble-free.

    Highly recommended.

    Brother HL-5040 on the Network!
    Works fairly well, cheap way to put an older standalone usb printer onto the network. The drivers/software worked fine with Vista but didn't work well with Windows 7, however I found a newer release on the manufacturers website (found the name from the devices web interface) that seem fine: http://www.win-star.com/eshop/article.php?id=26
