Can this be used on an exterior wall? Is this acceptable for outdoor use?
    Russell W on May 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello, this is really designed for an indoor application. That would also go with the type of cable you intent to use as well (if running cable outdoors, you should be using an outdoor rated cable too). If the target install location is out of sunlight and with zero chance of moisture - you could probably get away with it.

You could also consider inserting the surface mount box and the wire runs leading to it, inside of a weather proof junction box (found at your big box home improvement stores). I do that for a lot of application where runniong a bunch of outdoor wire doesn't make sense. (like where the wore is only exposed for a few inches).

    Hope this helps.
Can this be used for CAT 5 cables, is it backwards compatible?
    A shopper on Feb 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: +I have only used it on cat 6.
    Cat 6 is 23 gauge .0226 " diameter, cat 5 24 gauge .0201 " diameter.
If the manufacturer made the fitting sightly wider to accommodate CAT6 it may be be to large for cat 5 .
Punch one down and check the connection, if snug it will probably work.
What are the product dimensions? Not shipping dimensions, but actual footprint on a wall.

    Great little jack
I used a few of these around the house for an access point that was fed from the attic, for POE security cameras on the side of the house. It provide a nice place to label the jack, and holds the whole thing securely. This beats puting a RJ-45 crimp on a wire and plugging it directly into the device, or leaving a RJ-45 Jack just hanging off the end of a wire.

    PROS: Quality, price

    CONS: None

    Good, sturdy box
    Very happy with them.

PROS: - Very sturdy, didn't break any when installing 50.

    - It's easy to assemble

    - Comes with a "quite sticky" double-side sticker.

CONS: They should come in pack of 10 for ecological purposes.

    All In one!
These work great. I don't need a keystone to put into the surface mount box. So that's great. I didn't have any problems with installation and they worked perfectly.

    Nice Looking External Box
I am using these for a few places in my home, where I cannot run cables. These look very nice, so I have no problem having them show along the base of the wall. Very high quality, recommend.

    CONS: None.

    Works well, feels solid.
Cheap, good quality, and does what it's supposed to do. What more could you want?

PROS: Works well, does what they're supposed to. Build quality feels good, especially considering the price. What more could you want?

CONS: Using a 110 punch tool, I would occasionally get a solid core wire that didn't want to be punched down properly. This was a minor inconvenience, and was easily fixable.

Worked well but wasn’t labeled clearly enough to telll which contacts were which - instructions didn’t help but it was easy to test with a multimeter

I bought a 75ft cat6 cable and cut one end off. Ran the wire along the baseboard and used a 110 punchdown tool to terminate. Works better than I had hoped!

    PROS: Easy to install.
Includes screws and double sided tape.
    Works at cat6 speeds.

    CONS: none
