As other reviewers have already mentioned, don't bother buying any version of this model that has the side by side keystone jack configuration... won't work. The CAT5E tool-less jacks are too wide to fit. Monoprice should add this to the product description, this product shouldn't be marketed in the network wallplate section.
I should have read the reviews, but didn't even think this would be a problem.
CONS: Will not work with side-by-side jack configuration.
These DO work for ethernet, just choose the correct ones!
I read all the reviews and was careful choosing CAT6 ethernet keystones that weren't too wide. Product ID# 15695 DOES fit in this plate side-by-side! I have 12 of them installed in my plate and there were no issues. They are definitely close together, but I didn't have to force anything. This worked great for my application, and significantly cheaper than anywhere else!
I purchased this plate along with a 50pc bag of PID 5384. Also have other Monoprice and other manufacturer keystones on hand. The jacks are too wide (or the plate openings too narrow) for this plate if you wish to put them beside each other. I was looking to group six Ethernet, 3 coax and 3 RCA. The coax and RCA jacks are fine, however.
Not sure why Monoprice would sell plates that aren't compatible with their own products. :(
PROS: - Keystones snap in fine - it's cheap
CONS: - Not for Ethernet keystones that you'd wish to put side-by-side.
Due to tight fits some keystones will not fit side by side. For instance the RJ45 (5377), RJ12 (2496) would not fit side by side. Monoprice should start selling the non-decorator style 8 & 12 port 2 gang wall plates (with keystone spacing similar to 6733). This would solve issues with fitting wider keystones.
PROS: 12 port keystone.
CONS: Tight fit, couldnt get RJ45 or RJ12 sold by Monoprice to fit side by side, but stacked was fine.
The screws that come with the 6 keystone plate fits extremely tight. The first set of plates the nuts twisted out of the plate after I installed the it. I was unable to unscrew the faceplate and had to cut it to remove it from the wall. Monoprice did replaced them. Before I installed the new 6 keystone plate I used a 6/32 stainless steel screw and a pair of vice grips to slowly re-tap the keystone plate while watching a football game. Now the screw fits as it should...more work than it was worth.
CONS: Monoprice did not check their inventory before sending me another set of defective replacements.
This part was exactly what I thought I was looking for, but it turned out that I couldn't use it. I had to install (12) RJ45 jacks into a double-gang box, and wanted the Decory style look, which this has. Problem is, that RJ45 keystone jacks by nature are too wide to fit side by side in the Decora form factor. Should work fine for Coax F-type, telephone, RCA jacks, etc. Just not network.
PROS: Decora style gang parts with cover, not one big cover that the keystones snap into.
CONS: Not wide enough (by nature of Decora style) for RJ45 jacks side by side.
There is not enough space to use 2 ethernet punchdown ports beside of each other. Must place ports on top of each other. If putting coax or similar in the keystone next to ethernet punchdown you will be fine. Bad design and not enough side by side spacing.
PROS: Look fine.
CONS: There is not enough space to use 2 ethernet punchdown ports beside of each other. Must place ports on top of each other. If putting coax or similar in the keystone next to ethernet punchdown you will be fine. Bad design and not enough side by side spacing.
Two network jacks cannot fit side-by-side - Agreed
The modular keystones (jacks) sold by Monprice do not fit well in these 8-way wall plates the holes are too close together. You can trim them, but then the keystones are wobblily in the wall plate probably not what you want. The keystones are fine. The problem is with the wall plate.
