We pretty much exclusively use these patch panels now with our installs. This panel would get 5 stars if it came with 110 splice covers to keep wires from popping out while zip tying the leads to the bracket.
Excellent product at a good price. It works well and I like the compact space saving design.. It has Krone connectors which allowed me to use the stranded cable I had on hand instead of buying solid cable as specified by most patch panels using 110 style connectors. It was my first time punching down cables, but after a couple of tries with the first cable, all the rest punched down quickly, easily, and made good connections. The two tie points for each cable ensures that cables will not slip loose once they are punched down and tied off. All connections tested at gigabit speeds.
When purchasing items online I rely on specs and descriptions to get an accurate idea of what I am buying. If something in the box doesn't match what is described on the website, I start to question all the information on the website, and waste time checking everything to see if I need to return the item (are those really Krone connectors?, will they really handle gigabit speeds?, ..., etc.).
The patch panel's quality, design, and value easily earn it 5 stars. The reason I can only give it 4 is because the online description of the included items does not match what's in the box. I probably would not have used the missing combo 110 punch down tool / wire stripper since most of the information I could find said to not use a 110 tool on a Krone connector, and I already have a wire stripper. And I certainly would not have used the missing plastic washers as I use cage nuts and bolts with their own washers. The slotted lateral strain relief caps that clip onto the cable and connector providing a second tie point in addition to the one on the frame were an unexpected bonus. Besides needing to be added to the description of the included items, it would have been nice if the package included 24 of these caps, not just 23. There were 24 wire ties included, as described. That's only half the amount needed since there are 48 tie down points on this patch panel. 4" wire ties are available at most home improvement stores, for an added expense, and work as well as the included 3" wire ties.
I would buy this again. And I'd recommend this patch panel to a friend with the caveats that they need to have access to a Krone style punch down tool, count the included strain relief caps, and have extra wire ties on hand.
PROS: Excellent space saving design. Krone connectors work well with stranded or solid cable. Very solid two point cable tie design will not allow cable to easily come loose. Color codes for punch down order clearly marked.
CONS: Website description of included items doesn't match what's in the package. Only 23, not 24, cable tie point connector caps included. Not enough wire ties included for the 48 tie down points on this patch panel.
Great product, especially for the price. I'd buy it again. I wish they'd invent some sort of locking mechanism to keep the cable support arm in. Like screws or something.
PROS: Really small size. I don't think they could make it much smaller. good labeling, It was easy to see how to punch TIA 586B. Detachable cable support arm lets you install in some pretty tight locations Came with zipties to tie down the wires
CONS: The cable support arm that comes out the back detaches too easily. Only gravity and a little friction keeps it in. Until you've got your cables in and zip tied that is. Then it's pretty stable. It still seems breakable though. It's a metal arm that slides into a plastic slot, so it can't be that strong. That said, I didn't break it. You might though. =P
