Image to illustrate how to punch the wires down

PROS: Looks great - looks well built - haven't tested it yet - still working on how to punch the wires down.

CONS: There are no demonstrative instructions on how to punch the wires down. Some patch panels have an entire cable's worth of conductors punched into the same block. This patch panel is different. As stated in an earlier review, one needs to see an image to learn how to do this one. That image is posted here:

    Bad ports
In review I would pass on these if it came to an important job, these are not high end nore mid grade patch panels, they are low end and made for a LAN that doesn't require gigabit transfers.

PROS: Very inexpensive, nice extra's included in box, comes with rack screws. Modular groups.

CONS: I have bought a dozen of these and there is always at least one bad port.
I would say that they are very fragile when you punchdown, do not punch down more than once or you risk the chance of having a bad channel, even if you didn't get the wire to cut completely on that punch, use a tool to cut the excess. When it comes to checking for gigabit throughput it fails most of the time and gives you megabit.

    Manufacturing Defect? Bad production Run?
Although others have given this product high marks, our experience was not good. Several ports on a 48P unit had defective connectors with a plastic part making proper connection impossible.

I am sure Monoprice will replace the part, but I am on a remote site in Mexico and this will take at least 4 hours to fix (at a cost exceeding $300) and cause a delay in deploying the project.

This may have been an isolated manufacturing defect but for us, it was a 100% failure rate.

A high cost at the back end for a small savings on the front end...

    PROS: Low Cost, Quick Shipping

CONS: Several port connections failed when tested and not just re-punching to fix.

    Poor Quality
From the RJ45 side, the initial fit was tight. However, if you unplugged it more than once, the connection was loose. We lost connection on several ports when wiggling the connector. This was not the standards we have come to expect from Monoprice.

    PROS: Cheap

    CONS: cheap

    connectors poor quality
Long story short, I had a competitors 24 Ports Patch Panel. I needed to run 3 more wires but my patch was already full. I thought about buying another Patch (24 Ports) but after looking around I saw this model and decided to buy it (48 Ports) since the price was very good, cheaper than the 24 ports I bought!

I removed all the wires from my previous patch panel and started wiring the new one. Half way done I started testing my connections and noticed that 3-4 of my wires (out of 12 connections done) were giving me error (no contact/open). After wasting close to one hour looking for the problem (including re-punching the wires) I found out that moving the RJ45 connector in the socket was fixing the issue, temporarily of course! So basically all the connections giving me error had the same issue.... the RJ45 socket!

I ripped the wires from the patch and replaced it with my previous one, the 24 ports. Boom! No issues and everything worked! I ordered another 24 ports from a competitor.

Don't make me wrong, I ordered many items from Monoprice including a lot of patch cord!!! Amazing price and I never had issues but this patch panel.... stay away from it! Not worth the waste of time believe me!

PROS: Other than the price, not much!

    CONS: Poor quality built.

    Excellent Product
This patch panel is perfect. No issues with dead ports. Wire labelling is outstanding

    PROS: Great wire labelling.

    Great patch panel
I have ordered 3 of these to date. All of them have performed just as any patch panel should.

PROS: Great price. Comes with all mounting screws and punch down covers and a punch down tool if you need one.

CONS: More of a personal preference and not a con but it would be an added benefit to have a rail that came out of the back of the panel to nicely mount the cables to for better cable management and stability.

    Great Product
I recently purchased this and other items to cable an office with about 95 network lines, jacks, both CAT5 and CAT6, all the hardware needed to hang, wallplates, keystone jacks, J-hooks, and patch panels. All the equipment I got from MonoPrice was excellent quality and installed with absolutely no failure.

PROS: I really liked the cable-stripping tool that came with it. Nice to have a sharp blade that's easy to use!

    First bad monoprice experience
I have used a ton of monoprice cables, cat 5e blocks, etc with no problems. Ended up re-ordering a name brand cat6 patch panel. will be returning for credit.

Hopefully monoprice can get these fixed, cause everything else seems to be good quality.

    PROS: Cheap, quick delivery

CONS: 4 out of the first 7 jacks were bad. Spent a long time repunching both ends of the line, never could get them to work consistently

    Easy to work with
The patch panel is sturdy and easy to terminate. It provides plenty of tie-down points to make for a very clean and neat installation. I'd definitely use this again.
