BEST ANSWER: This Stands for Wire Guage. if you looking to terminate cat5/e you probably want the solid type unless of course your wire is actually stranded?

Not terrible for the price, but my Klein crimping tool and these connectors don't get along too well. If I squeeze the crimper together as hard as I'm used to for most connectors the retaining tab gets squeezed down and doesn't click into place, I've never had that happen to me before I used these monoprice connectors.

I do not think I'll be buying these again as they do feel *really* cheap and with how annoyingly easy it is to make the tab useless I don't see their price being worth it. I'll stick to the much, much higher quality (but of course more expensive) Ideal brand connectors I've used from Home Depot.

    PROS: Cheap

CONS: Retaining tab smooshes flat and won't click after being crimped

PROS: Wide choice of items prices are good

CONS: a bit slow to deliver international orders to Canada

Strain Relief Missing, Still No Answer
Still missing the strain relief as reported back in 2011, I thought they would have corrected it by now when I bought these several months ago. I did the RMA for one pack, but the second came the same way. You can even see the pins where the piece is to be compressed down on the jacket sheathing, I have spoken to customer support via phone and chat, opened a case two months ago, but still no answer and no fix. I've been told twice now these cases take a long time, but this is ridiculous: It takes over 2 months to look at some connectors? I've sent pictures and referenced Monoprice materials that show and reference the strain relief. I've been normally very happy with Monoprice, and this is apparently an exception.

PROS: These work well with the inserts, however both packages I have received are missing the strain relief piece. These will work, as long as they are not actively used for reconnection.

CONS: Strain relief piece that is supposed to clamp onto the cable jacket is missing on all parts. The only thing holding the wires in is the individual crimps.

Poor quality plugs that don't click after crimped
I use the Monoprice crimp tool (product 8139) and the retaining tab on the plug smooshes flat and won't click after being crimped. This seems to happen with every plug. I face the same issue with Cat6 plugs (product 7266).

With all these plugs, I always have to flare out the retaining tab by hand after crimping, so that it sticks out better and then the plug clicks and fits perfectly in the jack. Although this is a workaround, it also potentially makes the retaining tab weaker.

Other brand plugs from a local hardware store work without any issues. It seems like a design defect.

These are pretty much industry standard, and work great. No issues at all.

PROS: Easy to terminate. Great price.

    They work!
What else is there to say? Ran some cable through the floor to the basement dungeon workshop, re-terminated with these bad boys, instant connectivity. What else is there to say?

PROS: They work. Crimped with PID 195 crimpers and regular cat5e.
