Works well but as others have said it does not cut the ends. For twice the price there's a complete vaster kit, punch down, crimpers, stripper, and cable tester on Amazon that works much better. I bought it for my IT guy, wish I had bought one for me.
Subtracted one star due to issue (mentioned by others) with cutting excess. As long as you ride the side of the tool with the cutting edge, this works fine. If you do not, you will be cutting lose cable ends.
I'm not a professional and I used this to terminate my patch panel and keystone jacks in my house. It works well and feels sturdy. The casing probably couldn't handle commercial use for too long but for casual use, this will turn out great.
PROS: Works well, feels sturdy. It has a satisfying click
CONS: The plastic of the handle is of good quality but not for everyday use.
I tried this a few times, but felt like it was not cutting the cables very well. So I took the detachable tool part off and used one from another one that i had laying around and it seems to work much better. So while it is still a good value, I am actually using a combination of an existing head and the mono punch tool for the best results.
PROS: Does what it is supposed to
CONS: Did not always cut the cables the way it should have.
How this tool works is not obvious at first if you have never used one before and the complete lack of instructions only contributes to the initial frustration. But once you figure it out (after cutting a finger or two and gouging out pieces of your table) it seems to work well enough. For punching that is. I couldn't really get it to cut the wires and gave up and turned the blade around (again you have to figure out you can do that) and just use it as a punch down tool (no wire cutting).
PROS: Punches wires down quickly and easily (after initial break-in period).
CONS: No instructions, it's not obvious how to use it properly, doesn't cut wires well, doesn't work smoothly until a dozen or so punches wears it in.
