Can these be installed on a standard old box bracket?
    Christopher P on Mar 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. These recessed wall plates would not require the use of a gang box or work ring. You would simply cut an opening to fit the dimensions of the box and when you tighten the screws of the wall plate, the plastic wing brackets will hold it to the dry wall. Just be sure the minimum wall thickness is at least .25".

Decided to test these out for my LCD flat panel. I had it professionally installed (Never Again), could have saved a lot with the knowledge I've gained. Anyway, I use these to replace the cheap ones I thought were high quality from my install. These wall plates are a great alternative to having to buy an old work electrical box and a faceplate. The biggest advantage in using this vs. buying the work box is that you don't have to cut it up. Simply run your cords and mount in the wall and screw in to secure. It's like a faceplate/workbox combo. In addition the scoop can be removed for running larger cables, connectors, etc. It's a straight forward install and the product is of great quality. Instructions are included and a template also. I was able to fit two HDMI, component, vga, cat5, and a coax. Again, great idea and good buy!

    Great way to hide wires.
These things are great, and super easy to install. I installed one plate behind a flat screen TV for that wire-free appearance, and dropped the cables down 3 feet to the other plate. (Shhh, don't tell any electricians that I put the power cable in there too, though I used a heavy duty extension cord o) ). I decided to add another cable a few days later, and it was a painless procedure to undo a plate to help get the cable through. I was able to fit an extension cord, an hdmi cable, the coax cable, a flat network cable, and a set of 3 RCA wires. They come with a paper template to make the drywall opening. A box cutter will work, just make sure no studs are in the way!

The name says it all, "Easy Mount"
This is a very good quality and easy to install wall plate. The entire unit comes with the faceplate and the mounting bracket to secure it to your drywall so you don't need to buy a separate bracket.

Installation was as easy as cutting the drywall opening, inserting the unit into the opening and tightening the two screws, less than a minute job.

The large opening allows for all types of A/V cables without having to worry about signal deterioration by introducing additional connectors on each faceplate. Your cable connects your TV straight to the A/V source. Unless you have some type of signal booster (which I doubt for such short distance, quality doesn't get any better than point-to-point connection regardless how great or how much you paid for those "gold-plated" connectors.

PROS: Bracket and faceplate all in one unit. Cheap, easy to mount. Fits all types of A/V cables

CONS: Mounting hole template was smaller than the actual opening size required. No big deal since it was easy to fix.

My wife loved the look, after hiding the xbox360, wii, surround sound, blu ray player, and vcr cables(including power for the tv) in the wall instead of hanging down from our wall mounted tv.

PROS: Worked very nice in hiding cables in the wall.

Glad I made this purchase. Would definitely buy this product again.
Lightweight, but strong. Easy to install. When installed looks great while managing cables with ease.

    Used For Recent COMM Closet
I am using this for a slightly different purpose than originally designed, but it works well. I am using it to introduce bulk Ethernet cable to my COMM Closet and terminate those runs immediately after the cables exit the wall plate. I am using other items to run HDMI cables between my Theater Receiver and TV stand since both items are not co-located. I am running those down the wall into the basement and then back up behind the TV stand. They work perfectly for this purpose and makes for a professional look even though I am far from a professional. The only thing I am careful about based on what I had read elsewhere is not to over-tighten the screws that make the ears snug up the plate to the drywall. But then, frankly every electrical outlet "Remodel Box" has the exact same problem, so this is not unique to these wall-plates. Just tighten enough to keep the plate from sagging is good enough.
