1-Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Wall Plate - Lite Almond

Recessed low voltage pass through wall plates give your installation a finished appearance but allows you the versatility of using the cable types of your choice. Multiple lines can be passed through a single plate allowing you to mix and match while eliminating the need to have multiple plates spread out across your wall.

With these new plates you can install low voltage cables directly behind your flat panel TV, amplifier/home theater receiver, or other audio/video devices.

    Hole opening on face is 1 5/16" w x 1 15/16" h

    Ample space
Going through the single gang opening is a power cord, 3 HDMI cables, 3 RCA cables, and an optical cable. If you were going to land everything on the back of your TV then maybe a 2-gang opening would work better, but who needs the analog inputs. The only reason I ran those were to see the Bose programming on screen instead of using the front panel. It holds more wire than I thought it would and is well constructed.

A bit flimsy but work great and look ok. I prefer this to creating a wall jack as you can sometimes reduce the number of connectors by just having a wire go straight through to your device. The flimsiness is due to there being only two attach points, but that is standard for wall hardware.

As another reviewer said, the wedge part that goes in the gang box is pretty tall to fit all the cables I wanted to put thru it, so I cut off the bottom of the one gang box so the cables would flow thru easily. The other option would be to get one of those open old work gang boxes. I saw it at Lowes after I put it in. No big deal, but it would have been easier.

    PROS: Looks nice
Holds all the cables you want to put thru it

CONS: It too tall for a standard old work gang box

Cable management - single and double gang
My original thought was to use a fancy plate with multiple discrete connectors on it at the upper and lower access holes in the wall and run the cables between them, and then use additional cables to connect the plates to a TV and Cable box. The unreasonable cost, and additional signal losses with that approach steered me to these wall plates. Now that the job is done, I'm very pleased with the results and cost.

PROS: neat appearance, curved channel allows cables to be fed through easily

    CONS: None
