Is the back of this wall plate circular? It's hard to tell in the photo. I'm wondering if I need to use a circular bit to drill a circle into the wall or if I would cut a square with a jab saw.
    Matt C on Apr 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Installation is very easy. You use a whole saw, (circular bit) mounted on a mandle, I believe 1.75". Drill thru sheetrock etc, and Take out the plug from the hole saw, and insert back of the plate into the hole. Back of the plate has a circular section penetrating the wall. Turn the screws to lock the plate into wall. If you don't have a whole saw, a paddle bit would work if large enough, or drill a series of small holes to form the diameter of the hole, and use a jab saw, utility knife to finish off the hole.
A hole saw is the simplest, but any method you have to generate the hole will suffice.
If I am concerned about insulation. How effective is the brush to reduce air flow in attic and other uninsulated areas?
    Aman P on Nov 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The brushes are thick and tight and I wouldn't expect much airflow through it, as thick and tight as I've seen in brushes, and the would minimize air gaps around your cable coming through it. I installed mine in an internal wall so didn't have to worry about the possibly colder air coming through an external wall or through an attic above.
Is the opening large enough for the end of a DVI cable to fit through?
    A shopper on Jan 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. The brush opening dimensions are 0.77" x 0.87". I would recommend measuring your DVI cables port to ensure that it can fit through the opening. I hope this helps.

    Small A/V Passthrough
It is very easy to cut the hole for this A/V wall plate. It is small enough to fit behind my soundbar (VIZIO 2016 "Square" Type) and yet big enough for a few HDMI cables. Installation should be easy for most people.

I had one issue. The rotating brackets for installation do not move far enough back for the thickness of my wall, which admittedly is somewhat unique. The wall I am installing on has standard drywall & a 3/4" thick plywood. This was too thick for the brackets to properly extend and catch. I will most likely need to custom modify this to fit. If you are installing on just standard drywall, you should have no issues.

    Great Product
Smaller than regular outlet covers. Fits hdmi cables, and works well in drywall. Used them for theater room speakers.

    Yes, perfect (or--very nearly).
Won't solve all your cabling problems, but is like having a little specialist at your disposal who is good at what he does. The only improvement I can think of, is to make them in the U.S..

OMG! A solution that's perfect for many situations. Just typing to extend the review to the required minimum character length.

    Works Great
This is about as discreet as you can get for a cable pass through. Using a 1 3/4" hole saw makes it very easy to install. Maximum wall thickness is 5/8". Anything thicker will not work.

Prefect size for installing/hiding behind satellite speakers mount
I needed to install a satellite speaker mount but I didn’t want to install a standard face plate pass thru that would be bigger then the mount. So I was shocked to find this plate that was the perfect size and best yet an outstanding price.
I purchased 2 and had no problem installing them. I would totally recommend this item.
My only problem is I wish I could upload the final results.
Keep up the great work Monoprice!

Small Brush Plate easy to use & works great for a few cables
This small brush plate is easy to use. Just cut a round hole in your drywall and attach the plate. Since the mounting/wall attachment is integrated into the plate and due to the round hole, this makes it easy to level the plate and then tighten the screws.

The plate can easily accommodate 2 to 3 cables with connectors. Even an HDMI cable will fit through the opening.

    Hole Plate Works Great
The hole saw plates are great. I used two of them to run an HDMI cable from one room to another. Used 2 plates to cover 1/14 in holes on two walls. Looks professional! Best price I could find. Thanks

Discreet pass-thru plate for your cabling needs!
This is such a great device to have cabling enter or an exit an enclosed space when there are not very many cables or when there is only a single device. 1 3/4" hole saw makes your cut and it installs the same as any pre-built mounting decora plate. .

    A Godsend
The truth is I can't cut drywall straight to save my life.
After spending $10 on a hole saw, I now have complete confidence in putting holes in people's walls. Not only does the product simply work as designed, but it is priced ideally.
I only wish that monoprice had a power outlet relocation kit that in installed this way.
