A mono connecter cannot be used for stereo, but can I use a stereo for mono plugs?
    Kenneth R on Dec 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It all comes down to how a jack or plug is wired. Stereo uses tip, ring & sleeve for a total of three conductors. So, tip would typically be left channel of stereo, ring would then be right channel of stereo, sleeve would be common for both. You could wire the plug for mono application by sending mono signal to both tip & ring., sleeve common.
Is this a stereo or mono coupler?
    Christopher C on Jul 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is a stereo coupler. TRS stands for tip, ring, sleeve. Tip is left, ring is right and sleeve is the commom ground.

    Great quality connector
I originally bought one of these to extend my RockSmith cable but I have since bought another to keep in my guitar case. The connection is very solid. I can pull the cables around and it doesn't disconnect. Another excellent product from Monoprice at a fraction of a brick store cost.

    PROS: Solid connection

    Sounds good to me!
My wife's prized Martin guitar sounds great with a Seymour Duncan Woody pickup in the sound hole. Problem is, she's sometimes farther away from the sound mixer at church that the cable will reach. We've gone through enough couplers from R-o S-k to own stock in the company. Finally, we saw the error of our ways and came to Monoprice for this coupler. The plugs snap in with a resounding click that lets you know you've made the connection, and the sound is just as good as if the original cable is just as long.

PROS: Positive connection sturdy all-metal construction clean, quiet signal.

This is a fantastic adapter for the price - seems very durable and seems to make good contact with even my more 'touchy' 1/4" cables. Since there is no official 1/4" standard, I've often found that female-female 1/4" couplers sometimes don't make a good connection. This one seems to work well so far.
