    Better than described

PROS: The Monoprice disclaimer AND their online chat support both state that the coupler wil not work with the premium cables. This is not quite true. The premium cables fit nicely on the wall side of the coupler they will not fit on the room side. So , if like me, you’re trying to run a 100’ optical cable between rooms, go ahead and but the 100’ premium cable and a pair of these couplers. Just use standard cables to connect your equipment.

    CONS: None

Nice product - please superglue it before you install
I bought this along with other keystone jacks when I mounted the TV and sound bar on the wall. It was easy to install and works well.

Here's why I gave it 7 out of 10: The jack is made of two parts - a white plastic piece with clips on it and a black plastic part which connects to two optical cables. These two parts are held together by a small clip. When inserting the optical cable on the outside, if you apply just a little bit pressure, the inner black part detaches. In my case, it fell into the wall cavity. Since it was behind a TV, I had to remove the 100lbs TV, fish the optical cable through the wall again and connect everything back up. I spent almost 2 hours just to fix this.

So, before you install it, remove the black part, apply superglue and put it back in.

    Works perfectly, but wide
It works great, just keep in mind that these are wide - they will not fit next to each other on a decora plate, nor will it fit next to many other wide keystone jacks (such as CAT5/6).

PROS: Cable "snaps" in nicely in any orientation

    Works well

    CONS: Large

    VERY tight fit
These worked has described in the keystone blanks. Everyone must know that i installed this next to an HDMI on a 6 blank space keystone. There is already limited pace side to side and top to bottom. I was finishing the install of the home theater system with that setup and only found out then that Toslink was a very tight fit. Also, I put 4 blank inserts till I needed the spots later. I had to trim (with a knife) one of the tiny little tabs on the blank insert for it to fit. It wasn't a problem and cant complain because of the price I paid. Monoprice has the same quality as the stuff I have seen at Lowes and Home Depot. You will be please with this stuff, just know that the Toslink is a tight fit on a 6 spot keystone.

PROS: They work. They fit. They're awesomely cheap

CONS: Very tight fit on 6 blank keystone

May Not Work Well With Dish Receiver 722
I used this product to connect my Dish receiver from an overhead cabinet in my entertainment center to Monoprice's 3x1 Optical Audio Toslink Bi-Directional Manual Switch (2946) which is in another area of the entertainment center. Then end point is to a Sony wireless headphone transmitter.

I found this product did not work with other optical cables other than Monoprice’s cables. I finally found two of my Monoprice cables that played well with the adapter. A 3’ one from the receiver to the adapter and a 9’ one from the wall side of the adapter to the switch.

I tried other brand cables from the receiver to the adapter and I could not get a signal to go through, even though I could see one (red beam). The wall side cable was still Monoprice’s 9’ one.

I tested these other brand cables on other components to the switch and they worked find. I also tried these other brand cables and these adapters between a Monoprice cable and the other components and they again worked fine.

So I think for some reason the problem belongs to Dish. I even made sure the digital signal from the Dish receiver was set to just PCM. This is a requirement for the Sony transmitter.

PROS: The adapter's top and bottom are the same width, meaning you don't have to worry if you have the cable top and bottom are oriented correctly to the adapter.

CONS: The tolerances could be better. It was a tight fit getting the adapter into a keystone cover because the sides of the adapter are slightly larger than other adapters I have used (RCA).

    Clean install for in-wall run
This toslink connector has worked well for my in-wall wire run. Seems to be well constructed, clipped into the keystone plate well. Time will tell if it holds up, but it's not a high-use item. Overall five star for price, quality, and fit.

About the only place I could find these is here
I bought a pair of these so I could run audio from my TV (located on the mantle) to my stereo (located in the corner of the room) with the optical audio cable discreetly running through the ceiling and wall. They were easy to snap into a keystone wallplate, and my cables fit perfectly (Monoprice PID 2668 is the in-wall cable, and the other two cables are ones I've had for years).

For those of you looking at running optical audio in-wall for any reason, Monoprice was the only place I could find these cables - or any other wallplate or keystone designed to run optical audio in-wall, for that matter, If you're looking for these, just pony up and buy them here.

PROS: They work quite well and give the install a nice, integrated look.

    CONS: None so far

    Works fine, poor construction
This was easy to set up and use, however, plugging in the toslink cable requires a bit of force to pop in. The keystone popped out of the assembly and I had to take of the faceplate to reattach. Not the end of the world, but it could be more firmly attached.

PROS: Can be used in the same unit with other connectors

CONS: Easily disconnects from the assembly.

    Just what I needed

PROS: Exactly what I needed to route my TV's optical output through the wall. Works great.
