Do these work with TRRS tipped earbuds / headsets? I bought similar keystones from Amazon but they were specifically TRS only and gave TRRS earbuds that "wire jiggle" effect. I don't need the mic to work, just for it to sound in stereo with TRRS earbuds.

Can this be used for an IR cable?
    Jacob E on Jul 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it could be used for IR. It is a 3 conductor "straight through" jack designed for stereo audio. If you are using it for an IR eye, you will use all 3 conductors. If you are using it for an IR emitter, you will only use 2 of them.

I do not know the use of these since they will can not properly be used a coupler.

PROS: -Fits inside standard keystone hole
    -Tight fit

CONS: Will NOT work to extend IR repeater/receiver line. I ran this 9766 and 9895 to extend the IR receiver line to my media cabinet. I was unable to transfer the signal. When I disconnected and used a 3.5mm extender like 649 the IR blaster worked great. I have troubleshooted the issue to be the keystone jacks.

    Non-Functioning IR Repeater Use
Bought this hoping for a nice clean way to terminate the 3.5mm cable running through to my IR receiver and into the IR repeater unit I also purchased. But let me tell you it was a bear of a time pinpointing that it was this connector and not any of the other cable I had run, and now that I have I don't know really if there's a remedy. There have been other instances of these connectors being flaky and it is unfortunately not up to the same caliber of product that Monoprice usually carries.

PROS: Nice looking connector that fits in a Keystone faceplate.

CONS: Does not work at all.

IR Repeater signal works at all stages before this connector, but when connected the signal does not come through.

Connector does not seem to allow the signal to reach the IR Repeater unit.

    Completely non-functional.

When I got this keystone jack, I popped it into the wall plate and questioned the whole time if it was going to work or if I had made a good decision to purchase it. Well, the answer is yes, it does work. The thing is: you just have to plug in the audio cables on both sides and test it. This jack is an extremely tight fit, and this is coming from a musician with 20+ years experience. I have connected just about any type of audio cable and have never experienced how tight a fit this one is.

    The bottom line: IT WORKS!

PROS: It serves the intended purpose.

CONS: It is an extremely tight fit and you question if this is the right piece. But it isdon't give up.

I am using these to transmit IR signals using the logitech IR extender system. I was having problems with my receiver sending signals to the transmitter, but i narrowed it down to this keystone jack. It seems to be directional, meaning when i plug in the receiver and transmitter in one configuration, no signal. But when i switch the 2 wires on this keystone, i get a signal? I thought these were just basic female-female extenders, but apparently not. The one I have will only receive a signal on the front and send it out the back of the keystone. ( which doesn't work for me).

Plan accordingly if you are using these for IR extenders...

As a side note, i have no problems with the regular (non-flush type keystones). It is entirely possible I just have a dud flush type though...

    PROS: Cheap, good overall.

    CONS: Directional?

    Good wuality
all in all a good thing. did the job to remote my IR blaster

    PROS: solid connection

CONS: a bit tough to push into. Sometimes pops out of the keystone holder

The connector is wider than a standard keystone jack and does not fit side by side with other jacks in my wall plate, forcing me to leave a blank slot in my wall plate next to this jack.

PROS: Tight connection so no worry about loose cables.

CONS: The connector is wider than a standard keystone.

    Poorly engineered
Does not conform to the dimensional requirements for the keystone inserts. This insert cannot be used side-by-side with any other keystone insert because it is too wide.

These may work with the wall plates with the 3/8" spacing between holes.

They do not work with the wall plates or patch panels with the standard 1/16" separation.

These inserts also seem to be a bit too wide in the main body. They have to be forced into the holes.

The RCA jack part, PID 6564 suffers from the same problem.

I thought Monoprice fixed this after the insert RJ-45 problem.

The large selection of insert types is good. But it is of no use if I can only use half of my wall plate or patch panel.

I bought these to use with PID 8731. There was no need for those plates to use the narrow, 1/16" spacing.

The real solution is to engineer ALL keystone inserts to fit the 9/16" width standard unless the connector itself drives non-compliance.

    PROS: Works electrically.

CONS: Does not conform to the dimensional requirements for the keystone inserts. This insert cannot be used side-by-side with any other keystone insert because it is too wide.

    Response from Monoprice
    Hello Bill B,

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 6576. I will submit a complaint regarding the width to our product team so they can look into the matter further. Thank you for the feedback - it is greatly appreciated! For now, if truly dissatisfied with the purchase, I can help setup an RMA for a return on this keystone. If you wanted to proceed with the RMA, please let me know and I can get that started right away. Apologies again for any inconvenience and hope this helps!

    excellent for IR repeater
I bought this adapter to use for an IR repeater system with a cable run behind a wall. I just plugged the receiver into this plug and on the back side a long cable to run to the repeater itself. This adapter works perfectly for the IR repeater and the remotes are functioning perfectly.
