BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. No the adapters are not certified but they are simple pin to pin connectors so they will not affect the signal from the source. I hope this helps, and of course if you have any more questions feel free to contact us!
Can I bend it the other direction so I can get an angle with the ports facing as they do on product #3733? I don't need a 90 degree but rather something less sharp like 135 degrees.
davednconfused on Jan 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It will bend up to 90 degrees either direction, but it will bend to the same look as I see in the picture for #3733.
Which pins are connected? Are the signal shields connected together or are they all independent?
Dominic R on Dec 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's just an adapter that prevents strain on the connection or when used in a tight spot. No signal loss or degradation, it can actually save the port on many smart TV's, where if a straight HDMI cable is used, will put pressure on some & cause damage. Guess who pays for that damage.....the customer. I have two of these on my smart TV to prevent any future issues from arising, kind of an insurance policy more than anything else.

The pins & signal are 1:1 just as 'New User' stated above.
So you can use these with UHD HDR 4k HDMI cables and not lose any quality?
Stephen S on Dec 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have only watched a limited amount of 4K but everything seems sharp.

Not for High Speed
When one was used it would pass a 1080p signal with no problem. When there were 2 of them the image would break up. Could not pass 3D with these. Not high speed compatable.

Well done.

PROS: Monoprice is fair, keeps their word, and delivers in a timely manner. I would use them again for this product.

CONS: The product did not designate if it was 1.4a compatible. It would be nice to include that information in the product description.

Very handy
HDMI cables aggravate me no end. They tend to be heavy and inflexible, and the connectors themselves are designed to break things. They act as levers, for crying out loud. It puts a lot of stress on both the connector and the cable. Duct taping is one solution, but often unacceptable to the more esthetically sensitive family members. If the cable can be fastened somehow, then it is difficult to move if, for example, the TV is on a movable mount.

I have tried all of the different HDMI adapter gadgets (this one, the solid kind, and the short cable extenders). They each have their uses, depending on the situation. They all can help with the aforementioned problem, and I'd recommend any of them. That said, this is my favorite with one caveat. The shell at the plug-in end is still under stress from the cable, and may itself come apart, at least partly. It may be necessary to superglue the shell to help keep it from opening under stress. Perhaps duct tape (kidding).

Alternatively, suggest you try routing cables up thru holes in a mount (if they are flexible enough), then down to the connector. That might resolve the issue. I have used the short cable adapters this way, too, as any of these adapters are going to be under stress. The right-angle-down type is probably under the least stress, but frankly, I don't have many situations where I can use it due to other connectors in the path. It doesn't help with more than one HDMI cable, either.

That is the reason for my slight mark-off, because this certainly can be fixed in manufacturing (probably with glue or a screwed-together case). I hope in the future it is, because this is a great idea and perhaps the most generally useful solution.

Great Value
Works perfectly. This Adapter along with another and a 6 ft cable have worked perfectly with flawless transmission from our laptop playing Blu-ray movies. Male and Female ports give solid connections. Hinge feels solid as well. The hinge moves freely - won't hold a particular position if that is what your expecting.

In tight situations, you sometimes need a 90-degree right-angle HDMI adapter, but other times a 270-degee version. Monoprice sells both (of course), but for a few cents more, this adapter swivels either direction and everywhere in between.

PROS: Good price. Good quality. Does what it's supposed to do.

Cleaned things up nicely
My TV inexplicably has its HDMI ports on the left edge which meant that my three HDMI cables bulged out to the left. Three of these port savers cleaned things up nicely.

Pivoting HDMI Connector
Affordable, does what I needed (helps with clearance behind AVR in cabinet that isn't infinitely deep. Helped with use of 24AWG CL2 High Speed HDMI Cable w/ Net Jacket (net jacket requires larger radius for bends).

PROS: Does exactly what I needed.
No noticeable loss.
Very affordable.

CONS: 90-degree may not be possible, without bracing the pivot.
Not advertised as 90-degree, so that's not really a 'con'.
Nothing to list as a true con.

Strain relief behid the TV
These HDMI port savers will bend either forward or backward up to 90 degrees. That makes them connect to an HDMI port no matter which direction the port is facing. I used them on a flat screen TV in which the HDMI ports are in the rear and are facing down, which makes it very hard to see the ports to connect. With these adapters I can plug in once and not have to worry as I can see the end of these adapters.

PROS: Good connectors to allow HDMI cable connector not to have a 90-degree bend. This adapter doe that for you. It also makes it easy to connect and disconnect an HDMI cable from the adapter which saves the port on your TV.

CONS: None.
