Since there was no DVI-I cable extension, I used it to extend a short cable stack for analog CCTV cameras into a PCI-E capture card in conjunction with a dual link DVI-I Cable, because it ran short and was always pulling on it when the server is serviced. Although the threads were visibly not straight, it's not a big problem, more of a nuisance, cable is still satisfactorily secured
PROS: Does what it says, turns a regular DVI cable into an extension cable
DVI-I, compatible with DVI-A or DVI-D, especially useful for CCTV applications
CONS: Build quality leaves something to desire, the female screw threads don't align properly with the plugs, such that the plug cannot be completely screwed into it
I had ordered a mini-port to DVI cable for recent Apple MacBook Pro, unfortunately without first checking top see that the DVI end was male. The Apple adapters have a DVI female end, but are much more expensive. My bad to have not looked more closely at the expanded image. I ordered this so I could connect my laptop to the DVI cable. It works well for video (only) image.
It is actually the wrong part which is my fault not Monoprice's. I got what I ordered but what I needed was a male to male. BUT, because Monoprice's prices are so low I decided to just keep the part in the event I would need it some day. You can never have too many A/V cables and such, right?
I have turned on countless friends to this site and each has emailed, text or called to say they couldn't believe they hadn't heard of it before.
