I sell connectivity kits for the vintage Apple II family of computers to connect Apple II computers to PCs and Macs, By bundling this connector with a standard serial cable, the customer gets multiple usage from the kit. They don't need to have one serial cable and one null-modem cable, thus reducing cable clutter. Customers prefer this thin adapter over the bulkier, larger adapters.
PROS: Thin profile means less protrusion from the socket & therefore less chance for accidental bumping/damage
Less bulkier than other null-modem adapters (reduces shipping costs)
A great adapter when you're not sure if server equipment is expecting a standard or null-modem serial cable. Solid construction and worked fine for me. The provided screws were easily removed which allowed me to connect it to the cable I had.
