What are the tiny black sleeves in the plugs for?
    Frank J on Sep 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's there to keep the setscrews from falling out. The screws are just short enough that if screwed in all the way, they'll fall into the space for the wire. They may also help keep the screws from backing out during transit.
There is a small piece of what resembles heat shrink tubing inside of each plug. What does Monoprice suggest we should do with it? My package had no instructions. Product 21919
    Pete A on Oct 2, 2017
    BEST ANSWER: Hi Pete,

That tubing is there to act as a strain relief if needed. Sometimes when using thinner gauge wires it's helpful to have some additional material. Thank you for asking.
The red and black shell, what are they made of (are they conductive)?
    Dan L on Dec 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I bought assuming that the black and red parts would be non conductive plastic. They are in fact conductive metal.
    They are well made however.
What the max gauge wire they will work with?
    Ken N on May 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I was able to use 10 gauge OFC wire but it was a very tight fit, i had to cut a few strands off but with that said it will fit but if I could do it over I would go with 12 gauge OFC.
Should both set screws contact bare wire or should the outermost screw just secure the insulated wire? Also, is the wire supposedly to be pushed all the in to the tip of the plug?
    John R on Jul 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I recomend pushing the wire all the way and securing the bare wire with the set srew to ensure proper stable contact.
How well do this work with 16 or 18 gauge wire. I saw a review mentioning 14 being too small. Is this really the case?

    Nice connectors
Really like the double screw fastening system. Quite similar to audioquest connectors I used on my other HT system at a much better price. Would have given it five stars, but did not fit on RP Klipsch speakers. Good thing it fit my Denon AVR. Buy a pair and try them out before getting the multi pack.

They Fit Nice And Snug On My Yamaha Aventage Receiver.
These are some very nice speaker wire Terminals, you can tell that they are made to be high Quality.

I bought 7 pairs to make things easier for me when connecting my speaker cables to my warranty replacement Yamaha Aventage RX-A770. My older receiver was a Yamaha Aventage RX-A740, the old model kept having hand shacking issues with my LG OLED E6 under 1080P which was strange. To try to make the story short, I had to take it in for service 6 times so since I was getting tired of constantly unscrewing the rear terminals on the receiver I bought these plugs and boy did it help me a lot! It was a breeze to reconnect my Klipsch Reference premier speakers to the replacement receiver.

I would recommend using 12 gauge wires as the 10 gauge wires I have seem to be a bit on the thick side but I still got the copper wire in there though. The two screws worked great to secure the wire in place. The terminals went in my Yamaha Aventage RX-A770 just fine with no issues at all.

However I did a test fit on my Klipsch Reference premier speakers and sure enough like another Gentle man said here, they didn't exactly fit. It left about. Good 1/4 inch of the terminal exposed behind the speaker but I've been using bare wire connected behind them so that's not a big deal.

If you need to make connections easier and more clean for the back of your receiver, these are the go to terminal plugs you need!

I highly recommend them for a cleaner install.

    Good quality
They're pretty good quality. I like the dual screw terminals - they provide a firm connection on the wire.

    Promise unfulfilled...
Concept is sound but the implementation is weak. Set screws not long enough to hold anything but the largest wire. Won't hold 14ga, even if it is doubled up. Screws need to be a bit longer.
