Has anyone tried this at 4K 60Hz with the Macbook Pro late 2016?
    nicholas l on Nov 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Nope, does not support 60hz on the latest MacBook Pro. Tried it with several high end HDMI cables.
will this work with usb c phone connectors so i can hook it up to watch movies and stream tv shows?
    A shopper on Apr 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Depends on the device. The device needs to be DisplayPort Alternate Mode capable. Many are, but not all. Google's Pixel phone will NOT work since Google decided to not add the Alternate Mode standard. For Pixel owners, there's always the Chromecast... Please Google your phone model with "DisplayPort Alternate Mode" to see if it is compatible.
Will this work for a 2017 Lenovo Yoga 720 (has USB C with Thunderbolt port)? I've seen a lot of adapters that will not work with the Lenovo 720 for some reason
    A shopper on Nov 12, 2017
Is this Input Connector: DisplayPort ALT mode?
    A shopper on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does use DisplayPort Alternate Mode. There is active circuitry inside the adapter to convert the DisplayPort signal to HDMI.
Has anyone confirmed if this works with the latest 2016 MacBooks? I see a lot of adapters like this on amazon not work with the newest 2016 MacBooks.

BEST ANSWER: The USB-C to VGA and USB-C to HDMI adapters work perfectly with my 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Display.
Will this work in the Thunderbolt 3 port on the new iMac?
    A shopper on Jun 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: In theory, it should work, but I'll be able to answer definitively when my adapter arrives. The Thunderbolt 3 port in the new iMacs and MacBook Pros is compatible with USB 3.1 and should pass it through natively.
Does this item also pass audio?
    A shopper on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It will pass audio same as an hdmi cord would, as long as your laptop audio settimg is configured to output audio via hdmi and not the laptop speakers.
Is this running HDMI alt. mode from the MacBook or does it run DP alt. mode with an DP to HDMI converter inside the adapter?
    A shopper on May 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Ask again including information about how to test this and I would be happy to let you know the result. All I know now is that using it with a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) and a Monoprice 4K monitor gives sharp video. HDMI audio is present, but its quality is limited by the tiny monitor speakers. I haven't tried it with a better HDMI audio device.
can I connect this to a standard usb port and standard hdmi cable?
    A shopper on Sep 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Only with an adapter. This supports USB, found on many new smart phones and computers. Be forewarned: this does not work if you want to transfer you phone image to a video monitor! You need the skilport version or something like it.
Anyone else experiencing flaky connections on the 2016 MacBook Pro? This is the only USB-C computer I have access to so it's hard to narrow down the source of the problem to adapter/computer/cable/monitor.
    A shopper on Dec 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I've noticed specific issues trying play certain online content (specifically HBO Go). Seems that HDCP connections consider this a repeater and will disconnect the screen. Similarly, disconnecting and reconnecting it seems to make it work, but I believe that is the cause.
Does this item will work with the Samsung Galaxy S8 do duplicate the screen on a TV?
    Rodney R on Mar 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: yes it works, tested a lot, this one has excellent compatibilty
When I plug it into windows 10 laptop I get a PTN 5002 device, and it doesn't work, is there a driver I need to download and install?
    Clem P on Nov 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: On my MacBook it was plug and play, no drivers needed. I’d imagine it would be the same on windows. Try connecting it to a different hdmi monitor.
Hi, I have a MacBook Pro 2016 with four thunderbolt 3 ports. What cables do I use to connect to hdmi port on tv? I purchased a mini display port to hdmi cable on the assurances that it would definitely work but I think that's only for a Thunderbolt 2 type port. Can anyone help?
    A shopper on Sep 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This USB-C to HDMI adapter is what I have been using on my 2016 MacBook Pro w/Touch Bar for months. It's a fantastic adapter! This is definitely the one you need!
Will this work with a 2016 iPad?
    Rich S on Jan 4, 2017

    Works great.
I use this to plug in an additional display on my new MacBook pro. It has worked flawlessly so far.

Mac users: Only glitch I ran into was that it when you first plug it in, the HDMI display speakers will automatically take over. This isn't a limitation from the adapter, it is just a software issue. Change your preferences on the audio setup and everything works great.

    Works great!
I use this with my Dell XPS (2015) and my LCD monitor at work with HDMI in. It's plug and play.

    Works with LG G5
I recently got this in the mail anf tested it briefly with my LG phone. It worked as the support person said it would with my phone. Haven't watched a full movie on it to see battery use and uses the same port as the charger, but at least I can watch a movie rather than using my roku stick tethering with wifi (was a big battery hog)

    PROS: Works as advertised

CONS: No additional charging cable option

    MacBook Pro w/ Touch Bar
Works well with my MacBook Pro with touch bar - however, only supports 4K at 30hz (not 60hz)

Well built, but hit-or-miss with MacBook Pro 2016
I have a MacBook Pro (late 2016) that has USB-C ports.

This adapter works great with my external LCD monitor (by ViewSonic).

However, I bought the adapter thinking it would also connect my MacBook Pro to my video projector (also from ViewSonic) that supports HDMI input. Unfortunately, it doesn't. I had to buy an adapter from Apple (USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter). Not sure why.

This does NOT work with the late-2016 MacBook Pro (Touch)
This adapter does NOT work with the late-2016 MacBook Pro (with Touch Strip and Touch ID). Back to Monoprice you go, and I'm stuck using the overpriced, oversized Apple HDMI/USB-A/USB-C adapter.

Worked on MBPro 15" Late 2016
Plugged one end into a MBPro 15" Late 2016 model Macos 10.12.3 and the other end into an HDMI Redmere cable, and it worked.

The projector announced: 1080p 60Hz, and we were good to go.

Works exactly as advertised, as expected and as needed.
That's about as much you can reasonably expect from an adapter. I'm now able to hook my chromebook to the TV or to an HDMI monitor. Big win for me.
