I don;t know why not--i use mine to go from the usb-c outlet of my computer to an hdmi on my tv. But my understanding is that these cables are symmetrical--the signal can run either way. But i would google it just to make sure.

Anyone else experiencing flaky connections on the 2016 MacBook Pro? This is the only USB-C computer I have access to so it's hard to narrow down the source of the problem to adapter/computer/cable/monitor.

BEST ANSWER: Yes. It will pass audio same as an hdmi cord would, as long as your laptop audio settimg is configured to output audio via hdmi and not the laptop speakers.

BEST ANSWER: In theory, it should work, but I'll be able to answer definitively when my adapter arrives. The Thunderbolt 3 port in the new iMacs and MacBook Pros is compatible with USB 3.1 and should pass it through natively.

BEST ANSWER: Only with an adapter. This supports USB, found on many new smart phones and computers. Be forewarned: this does not work if you want to transfer you phone image to a video monitor! You need the skilport version or something like it.

BEST ANSWER: On my MacBook it was plug and play, no drivers needed. I’d imagine it would be the same on windows. Try connecting it to a different hdmi monitor.

Google's Pixel phone will NOT work since Google decided to not add the Alternate Mode standard. For Pixel owners, there's always the Chromecast... Please Google your phone model with "DisplayPort Alternate Mode" to see if it is compatible.

All I know now is that using it with a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) and a Monoprice 4K monitor gives sharp video. HDMI audio is present, but its quality is limited by the tiny monitor speakers. I haven't tried it with a better HDMI audio device.

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro 2016 with four thunderbolt 3 ports. What cables do I use to connect to hdmi port on tv? I purchased a mini display port to hdmi cable on the assurances that it would definitely work but I think that's only for a Thunderbolt 2 type port. Can anyone help?
