What's a safe way to remove a hard drive from this dock? I turned off the power on the dock as described in the manual. Turned off my computer just to be safe. Now the disk is getting "corrupt" errors in my computer as well as the dock.

Good Dock but can't use eSATA for card reader
The eSATA HDD docking station works as advertised...the eSATA will permit you to run your HD at fast speeds. However, the card reader function will only access via the USB ports. Thus, if you were hoping that the dock would be a fast card reader, then you'd be disappointed. Otherwise, the unit has an external power source and seems to handle the power needs of the SATA drive just fine. The finish is good and does not feel flimsy.

I did not do benchmarks to see how fast the eSATA interface is...I am just reporting that you cannot access the flash card readers via eSATA.

With this product, I was able to rescue the data on a laptop drive that 3 computers would not recognize!

Then, I was able to rescue the drive itself.

PROS: Easy to set up. Didn't need any drivers.

CONS: none, really. I haven't used the usb ports.

    Docking King!!
Buy it, you will not be disappointed.

PROS: Great price and works very, very well for an IT specialist such as myself.
Even bought two for home - one attached to my media player and another one on my main computer. Every techie should have one. Easy to use as well.

CONS: None.....how many products can you say that about.

    Not bad
Have had the device for going on 4 months now and it's been great. I mostly use it for swapping drives and reading CF cards. I also love Esata speeds compared to my USB devices. The only problems I've had with it were that sometimes the drive doesn't stick so well.

If it vibrates itself a little loose (which I don't see how is possible) the system starts coming to a crawl if files are trying to be read from the drive. It's very strange for something that should be hot swappable.

But when it works, it does so like a charm.

PROS: All features work exactly as advertised

CONS: Drive isn't secured very well and can come loose
Would have like more metal in the construction to serve as a heatsink

    Not quite as I expected.
I was looking for a quick solution for transfering all my smaller size HDD to my now 1TB drives. The win for this device is that it supports eSata which is a faster transfer than USB, also it was much more affordable than similar listed on other sites. My first impression on this device is good and data trasfer was about the same as my internal HDD transfer rate. But later I was dissapointed when it was not hot swappable I have to reboot the PC to swap another HDD. Further more the USB connection only works for the memory card, ONLY. The lower model that doesn't have the memory card option can connect the HDD with USB.

Bought this because my computer didn't have a Card Reader after setting it up its as if I still don't have one. There are several Issues with this docking stations Card Reader especially with some of the more expensive Cards like my 16GB SanDisk Extreme SD. The eSata Hard Drive Dock works as advertised and I have had no problems with that. Would have liked if the Card Reader had better drivers and since I am only using half the features I am rating it a 5 out of 10

PROS: Works as a eSATA docking station.

CONS: Card Reader lacks Windows 7 drivers allowing the OS to hide drives not in use.
Card Reader has compatability Issues with some types of cards.

CONS: Flap that holds the 2.5 hdd in place was broken upon arrival but still works ok.

    Handy Little Device`Eric
This is the most often used device I own. I really really recommend using the Esata interface vs. the USB. If you don't have an Esata port, consider purchasing a internal sata to esata bracket. They're sold for ~1$ here on Monoprice. Don't make separate orders, just go ahead and spend the dollar now, you will want it. Provides much higher transfer rates. Drives can get slightly toasty when you are writing to them continuously, but nothing too crazy, and certainly normal use causes less issues.

PROS: Convenient form factor, includes Esata cable, works without issues, no problems using in Linux.

CONS: HDD Door broke after ~ 6 mo. RMA'd without issue. Biggest con is being without the device while it's being RMA'd. I rely on it on a daily basis.

    Great product.
Works as advertised. I use it only on USB to a MacBook Pro. One note, I have to use the USB port on the left side of the gen 1 MacBook Pro. If I use the one on the right side I get a "USB low power" warning. It may be just this computer though!

    PROS: Small, efficient.

    PROS: Fairly small

    CONS: don't have any yet
