USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Speed up your wired internet connection using this USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter from Monoprice!

This adapter allows you to get improved network speeds on any laptop or on a desktop without having to install a new network card. It features 1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet speeds and is backwards compatible with 10/100 Mbps connections. The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface means that the USB port will not slow down your Gigabit Ethernet speed.

The adapter draws all the power it needs from the USB port it is plugged into and therefore needs no external power supply or source. It also contains all the drivers it needs for Plug & Play installation on Windows® (XP, Vista®, 7, and 8), Mac® OS, Linux, and Android™ systems. The USB 3.0 connector head features a slim design so that it won't block other adjacent or stacked ports.

Good except for lack of documentation
The CD drive did not work for me. I had to download the driver from the chip maker. i.e. Realtek. Drivers are here:

    PROS: Small, inexpensive

    CONS: Hard to get going.

Not compatible with my new Mac Book Pro
Monoprice was nice enough to send me a replacement at no charge, but neither device will work for more than a few seconds or minutes before disconnecting my brand new 2014 Mac Book Pro 13". To troubleshoot, I tested the device on an old MBP 17" with USB 2.0, and it seems to be working fine, but that computer also has built-in Ethernet.

PROS: Works correctly in some devices. Inexpensive.

CONS: Does not work correctly in a 2014 Mac Book Pro 13"

I'm really very happy with this USB Ethernet Gigabit adapter. I never would have gone with a USB Gigabit Ethernet however, i'm having problems with the NIC port on my laptop and i found this particular adapter on sale. So i figured i would give it a try. I"m really happy with thing. It's faster that my built in NIC which i didn't think possible. I'm actually back to buy another one, as a backup. Highly recommend.

PROS: Win 7, 8.1 and 10 all detected this without issue. It's fast too.

    CONS: None

    Perfect
I bought this for my Android Tablet as some of our offices have poor WiFi, I plugged it into my tablet and right away it indicated that an Ethernet port was detected. Plug the cable in and I am good to go.

PROS: Works instantly, no configuration or anything.

    CONS: none

20/300MB/s MacBook Pro 2014 Laptop Easily done
It took me a few minutes and was almost automatic when device was inserted into the USB slot. . I turned off my Wifi, looked in Preferences/Network and USB3 to Gigabit Ethernet was recognized. Fantastic. .

PROS: Quick and easy to use and get the speeds that Time Warner advertises
Monoprice is a great company with terrific prices and return policy with very quick and reliable delivery services.

CONS: Package indicates there are indicator lights, yellow, green - These lights do not work - but all else is terrific. When I used Monoprice online help they did not even know they had this device. Was not easy to find in their look up

Runs without Mac driver, but runs better with
Plugged this into a MacBook Air running Yosemite to get a cabled ethernet port, and it worked right off the bat. However, every time the Mac rebooted, or did a sleep/wake cycle, I'd get "you are not connected to the Internet." Unplugging and replugging the USB connector fixed this every time, but it became tedious. Came here to read the reviews and saw a driver URL called out applied the driver and the problem went away. Thanks!

    PROS: Convenience, flexibility, price

CONS: Not quite plug and play

    Simple and Good
Got this for a Mac Book Air so that they could use a wired connection. Hooked it up and the Air recognized it in seconds, with no driver download necessary. Has been working very well ever since.

    PROS: What's not to love?

    CONS: None

Great Adapter for an excellent price
I plugged it into my late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro and it was immediately recognized and gave me network connection. No drivers needed like other adapters I've used which is REALLY nice.

I'm taking off one star for the overall fit and finish of the unit, but that shouldn't dissway you from using this unit. At this price point, it is a complete value. It would be nice to have a white version to choose from.

    Overall an excellent unit.

PROS: Small, lightweight, works well, no drivers needed

CONS: I haven't found any yet - possibly the plastic construction. It doesn't feel substantial like something made by Apple or the j5 Create adapters.

    Works with Yosemite beta
    Looks good.

    PROS: Plug and play, mostly...

Full speed, copies at least as fast as my hard drive (400mpbs)

CONS: Occasionally, it doesn't "catch", but unplug/replug and it's fine.

Runs hot if cable not plugged in (so just unplug it)
