USB 3.0 7-port Switch Hub, with AC Adapter

Expand your computer's connection capabilities by adding 7 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports with this hub. Individual switches make it easy to reset connections or to temporarily disconnect devices. Use with a laptop or desktop PC to connect external hard drives, flash drives, mobile devices, keyboards, mice, and other USB peripherals.

This hub can be powered directly from a computer for use with most USB peripherals, or use the included AC power adapter to reliably connect high power-draw devices. This hub is capable of data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps via USB 3.0, but is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 computers and devices. No drivers or complicated configurations are required - just plug it in and start using it right away!

    Features:

    • 7 USB ports to expand connectivity for computers with limited ports
    • Individual switches make it easy to reset connections or to temporarily disconnect unused devices
    • Includes a 5V 3A AC Adapter for reliable connection with USB devices that require more power
    • Works with high-bandwidth USB 3.0 devices, such as external hard drives, high resolution webcams, camcorders, video surveillance cameras, digital video cameras, multi-channel audio and more
    • Easy to Install, Plug and Play - no driver installation needed on Windows®, Linux®, and Mac® systems

Do the 7 port units come with LED power indicators for the individual switches?
    Robert H on Aug 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The numbers at each button light up when that button/port is engaged. There is no separate indication that something is connected or drawing power though - it strictly reflects the state of the button, not the state of any connected device.
Work without being plugged into a computer?
    James H on Aug 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, hubs that comply with USB 3.0 (or 2.0) standards are not ideal for stand-alone charging without being connected to a computer. This is because USB standards have requirements for how power is handled so that ports only have minimal power until a device is detected. Without a computer connection, some devices will not charge at all, some devices may show slow charging only, and others may show charging status.

For a stand alone multi-charger, instead of this USB 3.0 data hub, products 13914 and 13915 would be better solutions. Thanks for checking.
I just received this unit and it appears the USB has to be plugged into the computer for charging to occur. Is this true?

If so, do you have a product that does not require to be plugged into a computer to continue charging devices?
    James H on Aug 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, that is correct, based on USB 3.0 standards, USB hubs would usually have to be plugged to a computer to enable more current to charge mobile devices, otherwise the ports might only provide minimum power that won't be sufficient for charging. Using the hub in the way you described as a stand-alone charger is not ideal and could get mixed results depending on the mobile device. Some mobile devices might not charge at all, some devices could indicate slow charging only, and still some devices might simply show the device is charging (we got these results when we tested this setup with different devices).

For a stand-alone multi-device charger, the following products would be great solutions: 13915, 13914. Thanks for checking.
what are the specifications for the external power supply for both the 7 and 10 port units?
    A shopper on May 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They have 5V 3A external power adapters for use with USB devices that need more power than typical USB peripherals.

    Has worked perfectly so far
It actually has fast speeds for everything (just a note, I have kept it plugged in to ac power too, not just plugged in to computer). I have my 2 main external HDD's plugged in to it, and it is nice to have it right at the front of the desk to plug whatever other USB stuff I desire.

    Good quality Hub
I received the Hub and after connecting it, no problems. Does the job it's supposed to do and I like the button to control each port individually. It is a good accessory at a reasonable price.
