    Hello,
I'd primarily use this cable to keep an action cam charged. The power source is about 7 metres away so I'd definitely need a solution like this. Would this cable keep my cam charged? Thanks!

Hello. Will this work on an XBOX One Controller? Approximate distance is 30-40 feet.

Does not work for PS3 and a Logitech Driving Force Steering wheel with Gran Turismo 5
I bought this for my home theater system. My closet has all of my electronics, receiver, PS3, and etc, with my tv and speakers on the walls.. I bought the usb extension to use my Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel and gas pedal setup to play Gran Turismo 5 on PlayStation 3. At first it worked fine, well it does every time I start the system, but about 1 time per hour, Ill be racing and the steering wheel will go dead and I end up smacking a wall on the race track. I would have to get up, and reconnect the USB to the port on the front of the PS3 (slim) to get it to work again. I simply cannot have this. I should note that the hard drive has been upgraded to a SSD I bought from mono price 2 years ago.

    PROS: Length

CONS: Random glitch here and there, loss of connectivity

    Works with Xbox Kinect!
I purchased this specifically to connect the Kinect to my Xbox. Been playing with it for a couple of hours without issue.

    PROS: Works as advertised!

    CONS: n/a

    Well made, good performance
I tested this cable by doing a binary comparison of a 25 gigabyte file on a USB hard drive and a copy of the same file on a "local" drive - zero differences. This is hardly "definitive", but certainly a good sign.
The power conductors in the cable are 24AWG, which is too small to allow a full 500mA load (the limit for a port-powered USB device) without excessive voltage drop (64 feet of 24AWG is about 1.7 ohms, so at 500mA the voltage drop would be 0.85V, taking the voltage at the far end of the cable below the USB spec). This is of no concern whatsoever for devices that have their own power supplies. A mouse or a keyboard should be fine powered through the cable. Any sort of disk drive that gets its power from the USB connection probably won't work.
The quality of the molding of the plastic parts is excellent.
When I saw how tightly the cable was coiled in the package, I thought it would probably take me half an hour with a hair dryer to warm it up and take the curl out. Not so! The cable is remarkably flexible and without any memory of its close confinement.
Note that this cable is, in effect, a single-port USB hub ("all" active repeater cables are). This would very rarely be a problem, unless used with something that does not support a downstream hub. A USB port on a NAS device, for example, might not work with this cable.
One important feature, the quality of the plating on the connector contacts, is beyond my abilitity to determine non-destructively.

PROS: A well made cable with good performance.

CONS: Power conductors are a little light.

usb 32' usb powered extension cable
These cables are great. I use usb web cameras for my home security system. A good quality high def 1080 web camera will only work 16' from where it is plugged into a computer. These 32' cables are so good that you can extend another 16 feet from these powered cables. Giving you 48' distance. Most my cameras come with a 6' cable. So in all You can run 54 feet perfectly. I think of mono price as the new and way better radio shack. Mono price has the best prices anywhere.

I unfortunately didn't read through the 2 lengthy pages of reviews to get to the end where it's not recommended for wifi. I would think this information belongs in the description or at the very least in the knowledge base.
If did work with my wifi dongle but seemed to drop. When I got up on the ladder the last time to check it the dongle was too hot to hold onto.
Returned dongle to short cable and it worked fine, and stays cool.
At some point in the reviews, it's recommended that a powered hub be used for non powered devices, but it's not clear if it should be at the near or far end of the cable. Again this is something that should be in the product description so you can order a powered usb hub if you don't have one already.
I love Monoprice, but I think they dropped the ball a little on the info side of this product.

PROS: Great idea for some apps

CONS: Didn't work consistently for my wifi

Very disappointed! Don't get me wrong, choosed Rating 1, because 0 is not an option in the Rating dropdown.
My PS3 didn't recognize the USB hard drive connected through this cable. Windows 7 recognized this cable as a USB hub and reported that there are other faster USB 2.0 ports available on the machine and when I connected a hard drive through this cable it was reported as device is malfunctioning (2 of my USB hard drives works fine when I connect them directly).
I wish monoprice includes compatible devices in the product details page with a warning of which of the commonly used USB devices may not work.
I live in Canada and return would cost more than the price of the item. No choice but to throw it in the garbage.
Sometimes you get what you paid for!

    PROS: Long cable?

    CONS: Doesn't work

    Solid construction, works great!
Had zero issues with these extensions on both XP x32 and Vista x64... combined three of them to a USB webcam which to my surprise worked great! The cable is relatively thick (well insulated), has nice braided shielding and both ends are solid molded plastic with a real quality feel.

    Insane Range! USB Extension Cable
Awesome product! Was skeptical at first whether it would work. I ordered four of these 33' cables for different things and a regular 10' extension also. I hooked all of them in a row adding one more cable each time until I had all (142 feet!) of them connected in a row and my mp3 player still worked just fine, as well as my USB modem which I am using to type this. I'm not sure what the maximum range is (ran out of cords)? XP recognizes each cord you plug in as a USB hub. Truly awesome product for $10 something each!

    Excellent with HD Webcam
I purchased this specifically to use with Microsoft Lifecam Cinema webcams and this cable works flawlessly with them. No connection problems and I can view at the limits of the camera hardware (720p HD).

Only tested with one active extension cable so YMMV if tried through a hub or multiple active extension cables.
