Can I use it to power a security camera? Im getting tired of recharging my security camera every week

BEST ANSWER: I use mine for a web camera with USB male plug. If your security camera can be made to connect to the extension via male connection it should work. I would think in this set up you would not need another power source.

BEST ANSWER: It should absolutely work. As it is a repeater (reclocking amp), it won't affect audio quality at all.

We did not use it for a DAC application, but we did use it to extend the USB reach capability of a Jabra speaker / microphone and it works. If you're wanting to use it in an "Audiophile" application, such long lengths may introduce unwanted jitter and noise and hence wouldn't recommend it. The cable does seem to be shielded though.

Hello,
I'd primarily use this cable to keep an action cam charged. The power source is about 7 metres away so I'd definitely need a solution like this. Would this cable keep my cam charged? Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
Maybe, as long as your your action cam would not need more than 12W of power there would not be a problem.

Is this cable rated for outdoor use? Not the connectors, just the cable itself. I need to run a USB cable up to a box on the roof. If this cable cannot be used for this, is there an alternative that can?
A shopper
on Jun 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is not rated for outdoor use as I recall. I probably would not lay it out in direct sun or buried in wet soiled. I don't know about any that is. It was not very expensive, it works well for us. I'd try it. You could also run metal or plastic conduit to protect it. Then you would not need to care about it's outdoor rating. You might also use wiremold.

Can I use a powered USB hub with several devices joysticks rudder pedals camera on a chain of two of these cables?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: I was able to use my keyboard with 2 additional USB ports on the keyboard to plug in my gaming headset and mouse.
I used this cable and a HDMI cable to move my computer monitor into another room to play games on and the cable was great for being able to use my keyboard, mouse and headset on.
As for a hub, I'm not sure but using my keyboard as a hub worked fine.

I'm only getting a link light on one of the two USB inputs. This is on two cables. Is this normal?
Edward W
on Jun 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It depends. The cable should only be used for low amperage devices (i.e. webcam or data only). No rotating drives or multi-led lights. Remember, it is a signal booster, not a voltage/amperage booster.

I have a mouse, it lights up on all 4 ports, but only gets a link light on the right port of each.
If insufficient power is delivered, the device may not work. That’s why you need to make sure that the USB interface can deliver enough power to attached devices. Check your BIOS to see if you can find an option named "USB 2.0 HS Reference Voltage". If that option is available, change the associated value from "Low" or "Medium" to "High" or "Maximum". Sometimes it is called "USB Power Share".
