How do these cables compare with the Premium USB-A to Micro B 2.0 Cable - 5-Pin, 23/32AWG, Black # 9762 or White #9965? I have always liked the premium cables because I found that they always fit better than 4868 or 5458 and had fewer problems over time.

Have the problems outlined in the review "Big problems with these cables!" been addressed? It claims the "lock tabs" that hold micro USB cables into their connectors wear out after about 50-100 insertions.

BEST ANSWER: I have purchased many of those and never had a problem. Only the many I gave to my son had issues but that is due to how he yanks, all charges he ever used, from his phone and tablet.
    Will they fit an iPhone?

    Big problems with these cables!
I am an engineer so I am very specific on construction issues. DO NOT buy these cables (any length micro USB gold plated). The have a major and specific problem that the "lock tabs" that hold micro USB cables into their connectors TOTALLY wear out after about 50-100 insertions. After that, the cable will NOT STAY IN its socket, and your device will not charge. Unless you want to HOLD the cable in the socket. I don't think you want to do that :-) Even then sometimes it won't connect. Very frustrating. The cable is well constructed EXCEPT for the locking tabs. They are completely inferior and fail quickly, making the cable essential un-usable. I have RMA'd a half dozen of these and the issue remains. Unfortunately I originally ordered a dozen or more of different lengths. So right now they have become throwaways to me as soon as the tabs wear out. I guess at the price that's not terrible, but you need to be AWARE that this is what will happen!

PROS: Well constructed EXCEPT for the lock tabs. They fail QUICKLY. I have verified that on many of these cables.

CONS: As well as the lock tab problem, they are a bit heavy for smart phones.

cable is good but micro USB head weak and not sturdy
Plug is very loose compared to stock cable, and seems to get even looser over time. Used for about 3 weeks before it would no longer charge. Purchased multiple cables for back up but did not think I would go through them as fast as I did. Normal to light use, I tend to take care of all my tech. Back to using the stock cable.

PROS: Large gauge cable and excellent wire insulation.

    CONS: Bad micro USB connector.

    Response from Monoprice

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 5458. I will pass this info to our product team so they can look into the matter further. If you would like, I can help setup an RMA for replacements. We offer a lifetime warranty for our cables and obtaining the replacements would be of no additional cost. If you wanted to proceed with the RMA, please provide the order number and I can get that started right away. Apologies again for any inconvenience and hope this helps!

    Don't buy cheap EBay cords
After purchasing multiple cords from EBay and receiving what amounted to chargings cable that would simply maintain/trickle new battery life, I decided it was time to spend a few more dollars. I did the research. I found MonoPrice. The 28/24 AWG was the key to getting a product that could charge at the intended speed of my device. How am I sure? Get a monitoring app that shows the amperage of power incoming and you'll know when your cords are damaged internally. Cheap cords got me 700-1100 maH of power input, this cord gets me 1600-1800. BIG difference. Did I spend a lot more? Actually not....I got myself a few, for different charging stations - and saved on shipping this way. Thanks.

PROS: Powerful, Durable, Speedy, Length options, Color options in the upgraded versions.
I haven't had these long enough to comment on the wear, but the "shoulder" of the cord seems to have "slotted" sections to it to fold as the cord folds to ADD to its durability while using the phone and charging at the same time.

CONS: None that I have experienced yet.

    Cant Beat it
I recommend this USB cable for anyone looking for a longer USB cable. This allows me to have more distance from the wall jack.

PROS: Micro USB connects firmly into my smartphone and works well in different items ranging from USB wall jack, A/C adapter and even works well in my car too. Highly recommended if you need a 6' cable.

    CONS: None noted.

    Best cable ever!

BEST CABLE EVER!!! But I kid. It's a cable. Just a cable. However, the Verizon store wanted $20 for a 4 ft. USB to Micro USB cable (non gold-plated), and I got two of these, 6ft. gold-plated cables, from Monoprice for $5, including shipping. Great deal, quality product.

    Great item at great price
I wanted these extra cables around so I would have charging cables for my blackberry 9650/9700 (yes I have 2). I have had no trouble with them. They lock into place better than the oem cable that came with my blackberries.

The cables are well made, but can seem a little stiff, but I don't find it enough of an issue not to get these. I would highly recommend people get these cables if you have a cell phone that uses micro-USB.

PROS: Bought these to charge my Blackberry phones in the car and to have extra cables at home and the office. They work as advertised.

CONS: The cable is a little "stiff"

    Bad Luck.
I bought 2 of these cables (6ft.) to charge my phone because I am sick of wasting money on junk cables at pharmacies and gas stations that stop working after a week and are too short if you're trying to charge your phone and use it without sitting next to an outlet. Whomever decided that 3ft would be the standard length of charging cables is a sick man.

Anyway, as to be expected from Monoprice, the cables were wonderful. Thick, durable, and well-made the end of the connector made a tactile 'click' when I plugged it into my phone.

The only con to these cables is that I have terrible luck. After 3 days, my puppy ate one and I ran over the end of the other with my office chair. After just 72 hours of blissful high-speed charging and freedom to move about while doing so, I am depressingly back to sitting on the floor next to an outlet with a cord wrapped around my phone and bent just the right way to make a connection.

I'll definitely be tossing a few more of these into my next order from Monoprice. Better luck next time, I hope.

PROS: Everything. They were exactly what I wanted.

    CONS: Me.

    Overall great paired with S4

PROS: Able to charge phone faster than with stock samsung cable (1200mAh vs 1900 mAh)

    CONS: Ends too large
