I was a little worried because I had seen some negative reviews but I figured I didn't have a lot to lose so I went for it. This is a well made cable and about $5 less than the one I bought on Amazon. It came quickly. Not two days like Prime but reasonably fast. I recommend the cable and Monoprice. Those negative reviews must have been plants. I will be back shopping here again.
Nice way to make RAID arrays on servers without tray-style drive bays. Only minor gripe is that I wish they would include a power splitter, or better yet, connect power into a single connector. I just made my own wiring harness by soldering 4 male connectors to a female connector.
Cable works, but the wire pairs to each SAS 29 pin plug could be better protected
We bought two of these cables and used them in identical systems to connect four Seagate enterprise SAS drives to an LSI MegaRAID 9260-4i controller. One week of continuous read/write testing to the entire RAID 10 array produced no errors in the controller logs.
PROS: Works as expected.
CONS: The wire pairs to each SAS 29 pin plug are minimally protected over about half of the length of the cable. I felt it necessary to handle the cable very, very carefully to ensure that the unprotected portion of wires did not become inadvertently damaged. It seems like it would be pretty easy to nick the cable on a sharp edge inside a computer chassis.
Braided mesh sheathing protecting the full length of each pair would have made this a five star product.
