This is the second purchase of these cables for use in a Dell PowerEdge 2950 server. This time for use with an LSI LOGIC SAS 9207-8i Storage Controller LSI00301 which runs six internal 8 TB SAS Seagate drives. This server is used for staging (Veeam) backup files of servers to disk in our data center. The connectors are correct and the length is just right. The quality is good.
I have a Poweredge 2900 that had a Perc6i. I wanted to use a sata raid card ibm M1115 or Perc H310 to the drive cage. This cable assy will work and I did test it.
PROS: I've check with other companies that may have carried this type of cable assy but none was able to answer if it would work with a Poweredge 2900. I did send an e-mail about this cable to Monoprice and it was a quick reply stating it should work and I had so many days for a refund. I install these cables to the drive cage and it WORK!. Drive are blinking, sata controller reports I had sata drives hookup. Nas4free setup my test system for a NAS, everything worked like I had hope.
CONS: Not really a CON, just the cables were a little long for my application but it works.
I upgraded my server RAID card and needed this cable to connect it to the original backplate. It installed easily and shipping was fast. High quality cables are every bit as important as the hardware they connect and this cable surely delivers.
Used these cables in an older Dell PE R900 server in order to upgrade to an H700 card. The card side plug really needs to be bent backwards at a 90deg angle for this to be a perfect fit for my application. So I bent the heat shrink back a bit and it all fits and works. Minus the "SAS Cable B missing/ misconfigured" error on boot.
Upgraded to a new high-end Adaptec SAS RAID controller so that 4-TB SAS drives could be used in a Dell PowerEdge 2950 server. This increased the onboard storage space 10X (to 18.2 TB) with six drives in a RAID5 configuration. Used two cables for this. The one meter length of each cable length provided the length needed to connect the controller mounted on the rear PCI Express slot to the backplane in the front. Connectors worked perfectly for a confident fit and reliable connection.
PROS: Just the right cable for the job. Connectors are good quality with a fim fit to the connected components. Durable cable for routing through tight spaces. Good quality match for the new high-end Adaptec RAID controller.
