6ft 28AWG DisplayPort to DVI Cable - White

Use this cable for connecting your DVI equiped HDTV or monitor to the DisplayPort connector on your computer without the hassle of using a separate adapter.  This reliable, high performance cable has flexible 28AWG, tin plate conduits with pure copper cores and gold plated connectors for long life.
Note:  While DisplayPort connectors are capable of passing a DVI signal, DisplayPort and DVI signals are basically different and not compatible with each other.  In order for this cable to function properly, you must have a DisplayPort source device capable of producing and passing out a DVI signal through the DisplayPort jack.

Note* These cables are not recommended for eyefinity setups, as they are a passive cable adapter.

    Not a bi-directional cable
Make sure the DisplayPort is on your computer (and not on the monitor).

PROS: Excellent build quality. Well made, secure connectors

CONS: Does not convert from DVI to DisplayPort.

    Cables!!!
It's hard to get excited about cables, but man, I'm here to tell you that these ones are no exception! They go from point A to point B exactly the way you'd expect and they make the bits flow from one device to the other according to the laws of physics. Just TRY to stop them!

PROS: My monitors started videoing right away, like good monitors should, when properly connected to a magic internet box.

CONS: Failed to make me breakfast, do my taxes, or mow the lawn. Seems like I should be upset but for the great Monoprice price, I guess I can't really expect sentience in my peripheral-connecting equipment.

    Need Black Option
Cables work great. Unfortunately, the white sticks out like a sore thumb when being used for a desktop setup. A black option would be GREAT and definitely less noticeable when it comes to using them in an environment where the cables are visible.

Typically I am extremely satisfied with the quality and performance that I get from cables at monoprice.com but unfortunately this cable does not live up to those standards. I am running Windows 7 on a Lenovo T500 and upon plugging it in I noticed a series of red dots all over my digital display.

First I thought it was drivers, no. Then maybe output settings, no. The real answer came up accidentally when my cell phone started ringing next to the cable. All of a sudden all manner of red lines and visually jarring artifacts appeared on the screen.

So I contacted customer support, only to have him feed me some line about cables needing to accept interference per FCC standards. He obviously hasn't heard of shielding to prevent such a thing.

Well to make a long story short I would say proceed with caution. I'll be looking for other alternative in hope of finding a good solution. Thanks!

    Works like a charm!
Setup: HP HPE-480t, ATI Radeon HD 5570, dual HP 2210m monitors

I used one monitor with DVI connection while I was waiting for this cable. Simply set up the 2nd monitor, plugged the cable in and presto, dual monitors! System recognized everything...no set up/configuration necessary.

From what I have read, a passive cable like this should be fine for dual monitors, but an active adapter will be necessary if you want to set up more than two monitors. Also note that your graphics card should have a displayport connector marked "D++". The "++" is important as it signifies that the correct signal can be passed through the displayport connector (displayport and DVI are different and not compatible).

PROS: High-quality cable, gold/plated connectors, thicker than what came with my computer/monitors.

CONS: Would be nice if it came in black to match all my other cables (I know, I'm being picky).

    DisplayPort to DVI cable (White)
Was originally looking for just a DisplayPort to DVI adapter. This is much better in that you basically get the six foot cable for nearly free. I am using them on Lenovo Tiny ThinkCentre computers to support dual monitors. They are working great!

I only gave it 9 stars due to the price disparity. The white cable is almost half the cost of the black cable and the only difference between them appears to be the color.

    PROS: Easy space saving design.

Allow the connection from DisplayPort to DVI without any additional adapters.

CONS: Black cables cost twice as much.

    Another success
Always happy with what Monoprice delivers, and this cable is no exception. Great quality. Great product.

PROS: Quality construction, works exactly as intended.

CONS: No cons for the cable itself, but still wish it could pass from DVI to DisplayPort.

    Works as advertised
This cable like so many others that I've purchased from Monoprice does exactly what it's supposed to do. The cable ends appear to be connected very well, so the cable should last a long time.

    PROS: Well made

CONS: Would have liked to have this in black

Works great until the Displayport latches fail to release
After ~3 years of use, where the Displayport end of the cable would be connected/disconnected from my laptop ~every day, one of the latches that keeps the Displayport cable from pulling out failed to disengage. The problem was that the cheap plastic your thumb presses down on was not actuating both releases - a screw driver to bend the metal latch slightly seems to resolve the problem (at least, it got the cable out of my laptop).

If my "bend the latch" fix doesn't hold, I'll buy another of the same cable - I guess that's about the best compliment I can give it.

PROS: Monitors go to sleep with the cable disconnected from the Displayport end (proper termination?)

Works great for joining a laptop with Displayport to a monitor with DVI

CONS: Button for releasing Displayport latch can fail to engage both hooks

These are well made cables with solid construction capable of establishing a solid, steady electrical connection. They will work as long as the computer in use is capable of transcoding between DisplayPort and DVI connections.

DVI and DisplayPort use two entirely different digital signals. They are not compatible with each other without hardware capable of transcoding it. These will not work on monitors and other display hardware which do not have this ability.

Make sure you know what the hardware you are connecting with these is capable of before purchasing. It will save you time and effort.

PROS: Well built has gold plating. Feels solid.

CONS: These cables are intended for devices which can support a passive connection between DVI and DP. These do NOT work on hardware incapable of transcoding between DP and DVI signals.
