Is the entire length of wire tinned, or just the ends? I have read that fully tinned conductors yield a brighter sound, though I'm not convinced this to be true.
    Jon F on Apr 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The cable is composed of Copper Clad Aluminum conductors. There is no real world downside to using CCA speaker wire in lengths less than 15ft and is not ran in walls. Modern amplifiers are strong and powerful enough that a minor loss in cable conductivity will not affect the quality of the sound in any way.
Is this a pair of cables for 2 speakers? Or just a single cable?
    A shopper on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Some of the previous answers are confusing. These are sold as a single red and black (positive and ground) cable, so you will need to purchase two for two speakers.
Is the cable "pure copper" or CCA?
    A shopper on Oct 24, 2017
    BEST ANSWER: Hi Shopper,

These cables are CCA. Thanks for asking.
Can you twist off the plugs to use these as bare wire with spring clip terminals?
    A shopper on May 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I just had a look at mine and I can't see any way of removing the plugs without destroying the cables. They seem tightly bonded and are probably soldered to the tips. I'm guessing, if you wanted to be crude about it, you could clip off the ends, strip off the jacket, and put your own spring clips on. Now as for simply screwing off the metal red and black aluminum jackets and inserting clips? No go, sir.
My speakers use a "Pin connector" to attach the speaker wires. Is there an adaptor to use on the banana plug for it to fit in the Pin Connector hole?
    stephen w on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. Unfortunately no, we currently do not carry any sort of adapter that would convert a banana plug to a pin plug. I apologize for the inconvenience
Are the conductors in the banana plugs made of pure copper? I've noticed that other banana plugs on the Monoprice site are made of brass. I understand that the sheaths are aluminum, and the surface of the plugs are gold-plated, but I am curious as to the core conductor. Thanks!
    Jon F on Apr 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I removed the banana plugs from one end and I believe the core is made out of aluminum.
are both ends of the cable fitted with banana plugs?
    gary K on Jun 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes, both ends of this cable will be fitted with Banana Plugs.

    Not that happy
These are sharp looking cables, but I was disappointed. The two biggest problems were:

    1) The banana jack diameter was too large. I couldn't get them in several standard jacks (speaker and back of Denon receiver) without first compressing them with pliers. Even then, they were very tight, and I worried about potential breakage on removal.

    2) The wires are not tied together, except for about six inches of tubing at each end. So, when there is excess, or they are coiled, the wires tend to separate. Messy.

PROS: 14 gauge, silver/black braided outside for retro look. Banana jacks have sharp looking anodized red and black handles. Wire is very soundly crimped into brass body of jack.

CONS: Banana jack diameter is too large. Banana Jack leaves are inflexible. Coiled wire separatesseparate wires are only sleeved together near each end.

the connector is bigger than standard, doesn't fit
The connectors seem to be a little bigger than standard size, hence it's very difficult to plug them in. I bought two pairs, so I have total of eight connectors, two of them can only go in half way, the other six can go all the way in after pushing them really hard.

CONS: connector too big, doesn't fit

    Great stuff!
I personally fall into the category where I believe that most of the high end speaker wire industry are simply snake oil salesman techniques. There are people who believe that spending $300 or more on a pair of speaker wires makes an audible difference in their systems but in my experience I can't say I'm sold on the idea. That being said, these little speaker wires are very well made and I'm quite happy with them.

    Love it! Great value.
This looks a lot nicer than the traditional speaker wires that I was using previously. The construction is great and the banana plugs fit nice and tight. I didn't have the issue some other reviewers had mentioned regarding the banana plugs being difficult to insert.

It would be great if these were offered in different lengths. I don't need as long of a run between my receiver and the center channel.

    PROS: Quality

    Appearance

    CONS: None

Nice and great value. Just wish they had other lengths.
There are really nice cables for the money. Note that left and right channel wires are completely separate with a short band of shrink tubing holding them in a pair at either and and the middle. Not a big deal, but may affect your aesthetic.

Some have said that the banana plugs are tight. They are. Squeeze them slightly with pliers if you really can't get them into your binding posts, but gently twisting them on insertion worked for me and I am happy they are good and secure.

    PROS: Good value. Nicely constructed.

CONS: Need various lengths. 10' worked for me but 12' or 15' would have been perfect. I still may replace them with something else if the tight cables bug me too much.

ok... not great. (+ fatter than necessary)
I liked these better before I had to repair one and I saw how they were put together and what they actually were. While cool looking with a hefty feel, that feel is due to a overly thick plastic sleeve -- not wire, per-se -- making the entire cable about 2X the size it needs to be which makes running it a bit hard. If you like that overstuffed look, then these are for you. otherwise you might look for thinner ones as these are very hefty (unnecessarily so). the plus are ok, but a few were missing set screw that actually hold the wire in place.

    Nice!
Really nice wires for the price. I've been giving to friends who are using crappy lamp cord for their speaker runs.

Nice looking cables for a very affordable price.
Nice touch with the branded sleeve. Banana plugs are not a one piece body and can separate from the tip. Base material is steal and is not ideal for optimum sound quality or connections close to strong magnets.
