What is the strand count and diameter?
    A shopper on Feb 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A lot. My eyes are not good enough to count them because they are fine, very fine. Overall it's a little stiff but I love this wire and recommend it.
    Hope that helps.
would this work for a marine environment, Mainly to install speakers on a boat?
    A shopper on May 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Shopper, a boat would require tinned copper wire in order to prevent corrosion. This cable is made with pure bare copper so it would not be recommended for use in a high humidity environment.
Is the cable shielded. I plan to run this in conduit will I get humming or interference problems?
    Henry Y on Dec 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don’t think so... and I’ve run it through conduit without interference problems but probably depends on your specific circumstances.
Can I use 12 AWG wire (PID 2817) with these speakers?

BEST ANSWER: I did. The worst thing you have to do is trim a few strands at the end when you insert them.
what AWG wire is better for 8 ohms ?
    New User U on Jun 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I’m using the 12 gauge but I would say 16AWG would be fine for 8 ohms. If you have very long runs (50ft or greater) I’d go with 14 or even 12AWG.
    Hope this helps.
hello what wire AWG is better for 8 ohms speaker ?
    A shopper on Jun 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: While the connection between AWG and speaker impedance (resistance in non-DC applications) is loosely there, you may want to consider more the point of your run length (distance from amp to speaker) and the power you want those speakers to potentially use. There's no simple formula to answer your question. The lower AWG cables will allow you to deliver more current and impede (block) less of the signal you are trying to send to the speaker. However, there is overkill. No one needs 8 AWG to go 20 feet for 100 watts per channel.
There are many resources online to get a better idea. I used several of them and for my application, we came up with 25 feet from amp to speaker box for 100 watts or less. If you really need to deliver more wattage to longer length, you should invest in thicker (lower AWG) wire.
A few more things: 1) your hearing is not as good as you think it is, so, you tend to turn things louder as you get older - meaning you 'need more power (Scotty!); 2) true copper versus copper clad. Get the pure copper if you can afford it. The electrical x-istics of impure metallurgy is not consistent in multiple manufacturers/refining/plating/etc; 3) are you trying to match a tuned concert hall with harmonics galore? Can you really hear that well? :-)
I can say that it makes no sense to use thin speaker wire from Target or Best Buy for most home applications.

Can i use this kind of wire for installing LED lights in a shed?
    A shopper on May 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is speaker wire. I am not an electrician but I strongly suggest you go to a building supply store to get electrical wire that meets building codes for your area.
What is the voltage rating of the wire?
    A shopper on Mar 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Voltage is minimal (probably why ratings are not generally quoted) and totally dependent upon the amplifier power.

A 100-watt amp (per channel) will be about 30 volts RMS.
What is the diameter of the 12AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor and 4-conductor Speaker wire?

Monoprice Access Series 12AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100ft
Monoprice Access Series 12AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100ft
Monoprice Access Series 12AWG CL2 Rated 4-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100ft
Monoprice Access Series 12AWG CL2 Rated 4-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100ft
BEST ANSWER: The outside diameter of the 2 conductor is a little more than 1/4". If the cable is warm/hot, the outside jacket can get close to 3/8"
I received this wire and noticed there is a very thin thread within the shielding jacket in addition to the speaker wires. What is the thin thread?
    Nicholas F on Aug 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: That is for cutting the shielding jacket.
Would you recommend these speaker wires for car audio?
    A shopper on Aug 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't see why not. The speaker wire quality is excellent. The CL2 rating may be too much for a car, and could possibily get less expensive speaker wires for that purpose. But if you have a ton left over, I don't see why not.
I need to run the wire outside to my speakers on the patio will this wire work when it is run across exterior wall in the sun?
    A shopper on May 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't. Spend the extra on outdoor rated cabling for the length you need or run it inside conduit
Looking for speaker wires to re-wire my surround system. I have an Onkyo receiver and speakers. What size AWG is recommended? I am concerned that the wires will be too thick to plug into the speakers. Ron

Great product for a great price
This is the best price I could find for 12 AWG speaker wire. It is a no frills product, and all you would ever need for speakers (unless you are pulling ridiculously long runs or running ridiculously low impedance speakers). Don't believe the stupid hype for insanely expensive speaker wire. If you want to spend thousands of dollars on speaker wire, you are more than welcome to, but it won't sound any better than these.

PROS: True to actual copper wire gauge, rather than getting all jacket and no wire.

    CONS: None

    You can hear the difference
I replaced all of my speaker leads that were a mix of 16 and 18 gauge leads in my 7.1 surround system in 14' x 18' family room and it was noticeable the crisper sound difference.

    Highly recommend.

Does what it needs, very good and durable
Running my speakers with 12 AWG ensure that signal is carried fully from the AVR to the speaker.
    Very good quality and durable!

    PROS: None. Works great.

CONS: Gauge might be too thick for some speakers.
If you're running small speakers, consider going 14 AWG

    Speaker Cable...Great price, works perfect
This is high quality speaker cable the price is terrific. Comes in 100' spools. I used it to wire my in-wall speakers - behind the wall, through the attic, back down to location, and everything worked great.

PROS: price, quality, ease of use.

    CONS: none

    Great cables
Great quality product! Easy to work with, except if you're trying to run them through your surround speaker stands. Also, I had to order two spools of this, because I didn't anticipate using so much. I even ordered a 25ft. spool in between, but that still wasn't enough. Be sure to order extra, even if you think 100 ft is enough. You may just be better off buying the next larger spool.

PROS: Great quality, easy to install plugs.

CONS: A little wide, making it hard to run through certain speaker stands.
