    Access Series 12AWG CL2 Rated 4-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100ft

Get the most out of your home audio system with high quality, oxygen-free, pure bare copper speaker wire from Monoprice!

This speaker wire features four conductors made of high purity (greater than 99.95% pure), oxygen-free bare copper. Pure Bare Copper is a superior conductor to the copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors used in most other inexpensive speaker wire. CCA is only about 68% as conductive as pure bare copper. This additional resistance is added to the impedance of your speakers and can negatively effect the sound.

For the wire to have no audible effect, the total wire resistance should be no more than 5% of the lowest impedance of your speakers. Even speakers rated for a nominal 8-ohms, may dip to as low as 4-ohms at some frequencies, which further reduces the total cable resistance allowed in the wire. Using Pure Bare Copper speaker wire ensures that the total load put on the amplifier remains as close as possible to the impedance curve of your speakers.

For example, a 16AWG 2-conductor Pure Bare Copper speaker wire has a total resistance of 0.803 ohms per 100 feet (both directions must be considered). By comparison, a 16AWG 2-conductor CCA speaker wire has a total resistance of 1.181 ohms per 100 feet. Assuming 4 ohms is the lowest impedance of your speakers, a speaker wire run can be no more 0.2-ohms total. 20 feet of 16AWG Pure Bare Copper would be 0.1606 ohms, well under the 0.2-ohm limit. On the other hand, 20 feet of 16AWG CCA would be 0.2362 ohms, well OVER the 0.2-ohm limit.

Each conductor is jacketed with color-coded PVC for easy polarity identification. The entire cable assembly is jacketed in a white, CL2-rated PVC material. The CL2 rating indicates that the cable complies with fire safety and insurance requirements, making it safe for use inside the walls of residential class buildings.

What's the diameter of the 12awg 4 conductor wire? I'm planning on running two of these in a wall mount raceway for the Dolby Atmos surround speakers. Need to determine the width of raceways with two of these wires inside.
    A shopper on Dec 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. The OD of the 12AWG 4 conductor speaker wire will be 9mm. The most you will fit in the raceway we carry would be just 1 and it would be a tight fit. I hope this helps.

    Can i use it outside?
    A shopper on May 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: While I do not believe that this 4-wire 12AWG speaker cable is rated for outdoor use, I believe that you MAY be successful using it outdoors but should avoid using it in direct contact with the ground, water, or directly exposed to the elements or where nighttime temps frequently get below 32 degrees F. You should also probably avoid direct sunlight exposure as well, primarily due to possible degradation from prolonged UV exposure and frequent changes between heating up and cooling down. Main point here is that the outer jacket is NOT designed for outdoor use. If you can still comply then I would say GO for it! Hope this helps.

    Great for long runs
Great color coding. Use Red & Black for Right Channel and White & Green for Left ch.
As with any cable, put a long screwdriver through the reel and pull the wire off the reel so as to minimize curling. I even put it in my furnace room so it's warm then let it cool while it's straight...to reduce spiraling.

PROS: Heavy copper content great for long runs without wasting amplifier power.

CONS: Can curl if not removed from reel properly. You can use 14 gauge for short runs which will curl less.

I replaced my 14x2 speaker wire with this stuff. I didn't realize how much difference it would make. If I had know I would have done it long ago. Don't wait, just get it.

PROS: Really, really good quality. Great value.

    CONS: None.

    good cable
Cable is as good or better than anything I've seen near this price. Straightens and holds its shape well after unrolling.

PROS: Quality cable at a decent price

    CONS: none at this price

My wire had red, black, white and green wires. I made the mistake of putting standard sized electrical conduit in my walls for wires. This 4 strand wire is thick and won't fit with anything else in the conduit. This is a great time saver when running wires because you can do several channels at once. It is worth it to be prepared for more speakers in the future, and if you dont care about that, you can always set it up so you could bi-amp in the future if you wanted to.

    Great product, amazing price
Very reasonable price in relation to the quality of the product. Outstanding price compared to the competition. The insulation might be a little more plasticy that higher end wires but this is a very nit picky complaint. Overall, very highly recommended.

PROS: Very reasonable price in relation to the quality of the product. Outstanding price compared to the competition.

    quality cable
Simple decision... if you need 12 guage 4 conductor cable for speaker runs... this is your choice. I searched around for similar products and Monoprice had the right price. Shipping was a bit of a factor but such is life.

No brainer, order the cable, you won't be dissapointed.

PROS: Cable is well made, easy to work with - even at lower temps, 4 conductor each with separate color jacket makes hookup easy, priced right especially when compared to similar quality cable from other manufacturer.

CONS: my rating of 9 is only because a 10 rating would have a super flexible mogami type outer shell. But there's no real con.

    Built like a tank
Wow... I stoped in my tracks and showed this wire to everyone ha. I have never seen wire so thick and well built.

I dont know what the small piece of string in with the wires is for but from the build quality I am sure it is there for a good reason.
