This speaker wire features two conductors made of high purity (greater than 99.95% pure), oxygen-free bare copper. Pure Bare Copper is a superior conductor to the copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors used in most other inexpensive speaker wire. CCA is only about 68% as conductive as pure bare copper. This additional resistance is added to the impedance of your speakers and can negatively effect the sound.
For the wire to have no audible effect, the total wire resistance should be no more than 5% of the lowest impedance of your speakers. Even speakers rated for a nominal 8-ohms, may dip to as low as 4-ohms at some frequencies, which further reduces the total cable resistance allowed in the wire. Using Pure Bare Copper speaker wire ensures that the total load put on the amplifier remains as close as possible to the impedance curve of your speakers.
For example, a 16AWG 2-conductor Pure Bare Copper speaker wire has a total resistance of 0.803 ohms per 100 feet (both directions must be considered). By comparison, a 16AWG 2-conductor CCA speaker wire has a total resistance of 1.181 ohms per 100 feet. Assuming 4 ohms is the lowest impedance of your speakers, a speaker wire run can be no more 0.2-ohms total. 20 feet of 16AWG Pure Bare Copper would be 0.1606 ohms, well under the 0.2-ohm limit. On the other hand, 20 feet of 16AWG CCA would be 0.2362 ohms, well OVER the 0.2-ohm limit.
One side of the clear outer PVC jacket is marked with an easily visible blue stripe to indicate polarity.
This is high purity, oxygen free copper. Bad signals will LITERALLY asphyxiate trying to pass through this cable as there is NO AIR for them to breathe!

If you don't buy this cable you are wasting your money. What could be finer than 100 feet of 12 AWG, oxygen free, high purity loudspeaker cable that can transfer signals AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT?!?!
PROS: Pure copper (not copper-clad aluminum) for maximum current. The best value BY FAR compared to equivalent cables of other brands and their fancy packaging. The cable is nice and thick and well insulated.
CONS: Insulation sheath is too thick to fit into Monoprice's banana plugs. Requires sanding it down a little for snug fit. Had to use a rotary tool with drum sander, but after this slight mod it's perfect, so I still rate this cable a solid "10".

I might recommend you pick up several spools (a previous reviewer said that it comes in a roll... and while yes... nothing bad ever comes in a roll... the technically correct term would be a 'spool') ((and I voted your feedback highly useful, because wit is underrated in this world))... yes I would suggest you pick up several SPOOLS of this capable wire.
At this price, you can horde the spools like Smaug (dragon from the Hobbit) or Captain Barbarosa (Pirates of the Carribean)... and when there is another market spike in the price of copper... you can retire a wealthy audiophile.
The sound of my home theater with these cables is much more dynamic, crisp, bold, and deeper. Highs are much more precise and the clariy of my mids now is phenomenal. System now gets much louder at lower volume settings.
I just can believe the quality of this cable for the price. I love it so much that I am purchasing another 100ft of it as soon as I finish this review. This cable rocks!
