Cat6A 26AWG STP Ethernet Network Patch Cable, 100ft Blue
Save the time and hassle of building Ethernet cables by using fixed-length STP Cat6A Ethernet Network Cables from Monoprice!
- Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Category 6A Ethernet cable
- 26AWG stranded, pure bare copper conductors
- 500MHz bandwidth
- Snagless cable boot protects the plug retaining clip
- 50µm gold plated contacts
- 100-foot length (tip to tip)
Monoprice Ethernet cables are made of 100% pure bare copper wire, as opposed to copper clad aluminum (CCA) wire, and are therefore fully compliant with UL Code 444 and National Electrical Code TIA-568-C.2 fire and safety standards, which require pure bare copper wire in communications cables.
If you will be wiring rooms in your house for a network and want the higher performance standard of Augmented Category 6, then you will likely be cutting the cable lengths as needed. Once you cut the connector supplied, you need to use shielded connectors and jacks. Monoprice does not offer any shielded connectors that I found, especially if you need a keystone style for a wallplate. Monoprice does carry shielded connectors but you have to buy 100 pieces at a time.
The knowledge base is lacking. Check out Wikipedia or another source for benefits/standards of cat 6a. Keep in mind, the fancy cable offers no benefit over standard cat6 or even 5e if you don't use the proper hardware and installation practices. You'll need shielded connectors and shielded jacks. No kinking the cable or bending it in too tight of a radius is allowed. One side of your cat 6a cable must be grounded. Be careful removing the outer blue sheathing so you don't cut away all the foil. The foil must be grounded on one end (one end only!).
There are no instructions with the cable on installing or grounding. I doubt if many people know to bother with grounding to get the benefit of 6a. You can purchase shielded cat 6a with heavier insulation that does not have the foil to deal with but not from Monoprice. Personally, I like the cable Monoprice offers better than the cable with the heavy insulation. No special tools are needed. Remember to use the T568B wiring diagram for terminating cat 6a. T568A wiring is not suitable for cat 6a but is common for cat 6. If you already wired using T568A, you might as well purchased cat6.
Go to other suppliers for the correct termination hardware. If you purchased connectors/jacks from Monoprice, might as well throw them out. Maybe in the future, Monoprice will offer a complete solution for cat 6a products.
I almost returned it because of a review on here from (djearl81 from St. LOUIS, MO). Which then MonoPrice would of lost money. djearl81 states in his/her review that..
Of all the catx cables I've bought from monoprice. This is the beefiest one by far. Since it's STP and solid copper you'll need to ensure the 2" bend radius so you don't snap one of the conductors.
I went and installed the 100 FT CAT6A cable, nailed it with some of those single nail plastic cable staples to the bottom, side, and top framing of the doors and the molding or trim near the floor in the rooms.
Worked very well.
So in reply to his comment. I went and spent the money on the CAT6A ethernet cable, and did a video to prove his comment wrong, and inaccurate. Just got done recording the video before finishing writing this review. The video will be available on YouTube in 1080p @ 20Mbps video bitrate, crystal clear. The video's title will be "CAT6A BEND TEST - MonoPrice Review" It will be available to watch before 12:00PM EST, 06.13.2015, Saturday.
I have installed the CAT6A 100 FT, the CAT6A 7 FT, CAT6A 5FT, and the Fast Ethernet Switch which was all bought from MonoPrice. I also have some CAT6 coming today, because of his review, and has cost me more money then I wanted to spend. But I'll probably keep both the 100FT CAT6A, seeing that I installed it already, and I'll also keep the CAT6 cables.
Thank You Monoprice. Excellent Product. Please check out the UnBoxing Video(s) I did in 1080p @ 20Mbps on YouTube.
PROS: Excellent quality Augmented Category 6 Ethernet cable (CAT6A) from MonoPrice. I was able to bend it around the framing of door frames, without any problems. It's shielded twisted pair, which is great for cross talk, which is an excellent choice when running it next to other wires.
CONS: Absolutely nothing.
PROS: Excellent quality.
PROS: Did the job

PROS: Passed HDBaseT signal 100' without any issues so far.
CONS: I need a right angle on at least one end to fit the HDBaseT receiver wall pate into a standard 2 gang low voltage box.
PROS: easy to route thru wall
