Does this cable support USB 3.0?
    Robert L on Feb 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this cable only uses the USB connection to provide power (the "p" in eSATAp) for computers that have an eSATA port. This cable still relies on the eSATA port for data connection and won't work with USB 3.0 for data (but can get power from any USB port).
I need a cable to connect an external HD ( in a powered enclosure ) with esata port to a computer with only a USB input. It sounds like this will not work. Any suggestions?

BEST ANSWER: i couldn't tell you truthfully as in i got the same cable you have and i connected the esata data cable and NOTHING works
Does this cable provide 6G SATA III speed or just 3 G SATA II speed?
    A shopper on Jul 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: USB 2.0 cables will limit a USB 3.0 source and load to 2.0 speeds. This is not true for e-SATA cabling. The USB connection on this product is primarily to draw power for the external load but is a USB 2.0 connection. This product supports 6GPBS if both the source and the load are 6GBPS.

Make sure it's what you want!

PROS: the cable is a nice cable, seems well made and has lots of plastic. In act, I'd go so far as to call it very sturdy!

CONS: Unfortunately it's an eSATA cable, not a SATA cable and only if usable by specialized eSATA devices. I needed a SATA by USB adapter, so I'll go order one now.
