Gigabyte claims they didn't guarantee I could use [Kingwin] mobile racks for SATA drives w GA990FX Gaming, tho I've used 2 other GA mobos for years w no problem. So I bot into monoprice's ad that their 6Gbps cables were different - made for higher data rates. Less than $1, I bot 6. Changed them all out. Now 2 WDs, 1 Hitachi & 1 Seagate SSHD will hot plug in any of 4 mobile rack positions, but 6 other Seagates will not. Very consistent. Maybe it's SATA2 drives vs SATA3. No, all these drives are from 2009 or so - SATA2. So these green cables improved the situation. There is in fact, something to them. If the Seagates had worked, I'd have given a rating of 5.
PROS: cheap! Better performance that the old OEM red ones.
Needed a couple of these for moving an old machine into a new case in which my old angle-ended SATA cables would not work. These are flexible enough to deal with the case's internal arrangement and the latches see to it they stay on the mobo & and drive connectors.
does not match picture (looks closer to product ID4544 just with black metal latch instead of silver metal latch) not sure why there is such a price difference between two seemingly identical cables in spec, length and appearance (this item is product ID8789 the more expensive one is product ID4544)
not sure on labeling of speed, no way to test, I think all are about the same, no noticeable benchmark difference between this cable and 3Gbps rated cable
theory of variable weight on speed from most to least:
hard drive specs
length of cable
PROS: long enough
flexible enough (cable)
no L angle in wrong direction(both ends are straight)
cheaper than Dell and amazon
better quality than Dell (this is to replace overly short unreliable Dell OEM cable)
CONS: head (does not fit well, need force to get it in and out without the locking mechanism just from mere thickness)
not flexible near head (expected)
latch is made of stiff metal
poorly made (plastic mold did not match from cable to cable, varying shapes and metal position in clip, some fits better than others)
18inch SATA 6Gbps Cable w/Locking Latch - UV Green
Excellent cables, Good cable in the cable, Good ends on the cables, Locking Latches.
The latches are a little small, I would have made them slightly different, only thing that kept me from making these cables perfect 10's was that the latches sometimes did not always latch everytime
