    18inch SATA 6Gbps Cable w/Locking Latch (90 Degree to 180 Degree) - Red

Each major revision of the Serial ATA interface specification has doubled the maximum data transfer rate. The latest SATA Revision 3.0 allows for data transfer speeds of up to 6 Gbps.

While the cables for all three revisions appear to be similar and will physically fit into the connectors on all SATA drives and controllers, the higher data transfer rate of SATA 6 Gbps requires higher quality materials and closer tolerances than the previous two revisions required.

Monoprice SATA 6 Gbps cables are certified to provide maximum speeds from your SATA system, up to 6 Gbps when used with equivalent devices and controllers.

One end of this internal cable features a straight connector, while the other end uses a 90-degree connector, which can make for better cable management in some situations, especially in tight spaces. Each end has an attached locking latch, to ensure that your connections do not come loose due to movement or vibration.

Note that SATA 6 Gbps cables are backwards compatible and can be used with SATA 3 Gbps and SATA 1.5 Gbps devices. However, the data transfer of the SATA subsystem will be limited to that of the slowest device. So, for example, if a SATA 6 Gbps cable is connected to a SATA 3 Gbps drive and a SATA 1.5 Gbps controller, the drive will be limited to a transfer rate of 1.5 Gbps.

I'd pay more for better quality
I ordered one of these in order to see it up close before ordering more. The price is certainly right, but the quality does not appear up to par. In particular, the 90 degree end's black connector "insert" (see product image) isn't truly at 90 degrees, but is about 10 degrees off inside the red plastic shell. Being 10 degrees off in itself probably isn't a huge deal, but it makes me worry about the quality of the internal connections I can't see. This cable may be fine, but I'll pay an extra buck or two for a cable I have more confidence in. It's worth it to me to safeguard my data.

Additional notes: The cable I received doesn't say "6 Gbps" or "SATA 3.0" anywhere on it. Unlike many Monoprice cables, it also doesn't say "Monoprice" on it anywhere.

    PROS: Cheap price

    CONS: Suspect 90 degree connector

    So far so good!
Bought some of these for the SSD and HDD upgrades that I planed for my desktop. I've got the SSD hooked up and it is working great. Very easy to route these flexible cables and access tight spots with the angled connectors.

Great cable, nice metal (aluminum most likely) latch. Had some SATA cables that came as OEM with my drives, and were wiggling themselves loose since the latch was never clicking in place. Lost my RAID configuration twice over that, decided to order these. Exactly what they say they are, latches are strong for internal use, and easy to release when needed. Would order again!

PROS: Exactly what it said it was. Perfect price, 100% accurate description

    CONS: None

Nice red color. Sturdy and flexible. Locking latch is nice, but might be an issue in tight spaces to pull out. 90 degree angle is nice in tight cases. Working after four months of use.

    PROS: Affordable price and shipping.

    CONS: None.

    Work like they should
I don't have any sataIII drives so can't speak for the 6Gbps, but they work fine at SataII speeds. Other than that, they work great, no faulty cables, bought some to replace some old funky ones I had plus needed a few extra.

PROS: Locking tabs work good, I've had some that didn't lock
    Seems pretty sturdy

    CONS: None
