25ft Premium 2 RCA Plug/2 RCA Plug M/M 22AWG Cable - Black
Despite the introduction of more advanced audio and video signal cables, such as HDMI and Toslink, most audio and a large number of video connections still use the common RCA connector.
This is a premium two-channel audio cable made of RG-59 75 ohm coaxial cable. The cable uses a 22AWG conductor and is shielded to prevent EMI or RFI interference from entering your audio system. The connectors are gold plated, for smooth connections and to prevent corrosion. Each connector head features embedded, color-coded rubber rings to ensure a firm grip when installing or removing the cable.
The cable is marked RG-59/U, and has ~17pF/ft capacitance (within spec for RG-59/U), which is far less than typical audio cable (Canare is ~50pF/ft, George-L's is ~25pF/ft).
It's rated for use as audio signal (instrument, mic or line), digital audio signal (SPDIF or AES), digital audio word clock, or 75 ohm antenna coax. It also makes excellent instrument patch cables, and is less than $0.15/ft per channel. That's a tiny fraction of the price for comparable cable. This stuff is cheaper than bulk cable! The only cable I've ever found that has lower capacitance is the Vovox XLR cable, and that's $20/ft.
The stereo cable is formed by two 6.0mm O.D. cables bonded together as a pair (sort of like very thick zip-cord). The ends are separated and kept from further separation by a short section of shrink tubing. This strain relief can be moved if necessary to further separate the cables if desired.
The gold-plated RCA connectors are molded-on, and each connector has three red and white color-coded plastic bands around them. These are the cheapest aspect of the cable, and these bands could come off with age (this is unverified).
PROS: Very low capacitance, low-noise, durable audio/video cable, with rugged gold-plated ends. Stereo cable may be separated and used as mono patch cable if desired. Works for analog and digital audio, video, and digital audio word clock.
PROS: Clear sound, great length, sturdy
PROS: Monoprice is the only source I'd consider for cables. They consistently carry and provide high quality products at great prices, and supply enough info online to enable me to make informed choices. And delivery is fast.
CONS: Absolutely none to date, over several years and many orders.
The cable is VERY stiff, it wasn't an issue in my installation, but don't expect it to make tight bends. The rca ends were a little tight, I'm not sure I'll be able to uncouple the 1/4" adapter on the amplifier end of the cable without hurting myself.
PROS: Good appearance, functionality and price.
CONS: Very stiff, extremely tight rca connects.
PROS: well constructed and well priced
CONS: The RCA connections are too tight, I literally have to take sections of the grippers off with a needle nose plier just to get them to fit without causing damage. This has been true of all RCA cables I've ordered from monoprice.
PROS: strong connectors, heavy cable with thick insulator
CONS: Plug ends are wider than typical.
PROS: Heavy duty, well insulated, tight connectors
PROS: nice thick flexible insulation.
very high quality connecting posts.
