Is this wired series or parallel?
    David E on Mar 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Neither, actually. It is stereo, so there should be a common ground with a left and right signal wire from the male jack to each of the female jacks.
Is this a splitter or stereo balancer cable?
    A shopper on Jul 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Splitter. I use to to convert single sound out on my phone to two headphones.
The FEMALE plugs on this adapter look to be very close together. Are you able to plug 2 of your "premium" 3.5mm to RCA cables into this without them interfering with each other (I'm talking about Product ID: 5597)? That is the problem I have with my current splitter - the premium cables are so thick at the plug they push against each other. Thanks in advance!

Monoprice 3ft Premium 3.5mm Stereo Male to 2RCA Male 22AWG Cable (Gold Plated) - Black
BEST ANSWER: Yes, there is about 1/8" space between the two male ends of premium cable when they are connected to the female splitter.
Would this work to connect a headset (audio & microphone) to my cell phone?
    Andrew G on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately this adapter will not allow you to do that. I would check with your phone manufacturer to get the proper adapter. I hope this helps, thank you!

    Not the
The two female connections make a poor connection with anything plugged into them. Eventually you can manuever and twist the input until the connection is made, but even then caused a bit of "fuzziness" into the sound. I suppose for $1.63 I can't really complain though.

PROS: Splits stereo signal, looks/feels solid, cheap

CONS: Female jacks both are poor quality

Good quality but WAAY too bulky
While this does what it says, it is HUGE (like others have pointed out)! It's also kinda heavy. Just for point of reference, I include a couple pics of this thing plugged into a Motorola Droid. Also, it will not work for iphones as the connector is very "fat".

output is dual mono but good build quality.

    PROS: Build quality

    CONS: output is dual mono

    Very impressive
This cable worked well to hook my computer up to my monitor speakers. My old cable was picking up interference from my portable hard drive but this monoprice cable works perfectly without interference. This cable was much thicker than I thought. Each wire is insulated separately with about 5 mm of insulation. That makes for a 1 cm thick cable! I wouldn't use this cable for an iPod or anything that needs to be mobile because it is just too thick.

    excellent splitter
excellent splitter. superb quality. only downside is that the wire isn't very flexible. you probably won't want to use this on a laptop for two people to watch a movie through head phones. the wire would stick out too far

    Split
The power of the cable is cut in half. Not good for applications that demand quality.

    PROS: Quality

    CONS: It splits the signal.

    Great bang for the buck
Delivered quickly, great quality, great price!

PROS: Delivered quickly, great quality, great price!

CONS: The connectors are thick, so I had to shave off a little when trying to plug into my sound card of my PC - not Monoprice's fault though!

This adapter is bigger than I expected. The cables are quite thick, and the splitter is pretty big. I use it for my home stereo, so I was happy to have the solidity and quality. But it's pretty cumbersome if you want to bring it with you when traveling, for example.

    Completely overengineered.
And that's not a bad thing.

Seriously, you look at the cable and you realize the cable will outlive whatever it's attached to.

Even better than it has to be
I got this splitter for two people to listen to movies on a laptop on airline flights. Of course, a laptop has only one audio output. It works perfectly for this and is far cheaper than any locally-available splitters.

PROS: Super heavy duty I can't see this thing ever breaking. Ridiculously cheap shipping cost more than the part.
