I have already contacted monoprice and are sending me a replacement. Monoprice is great to deal with. I will update my review when I get my second cable to test with.

PROS: This cable looks serious. I did not realize when I bought it. It no joke seems to be two RCA/RG-6 cables size side by side in this cable. I bought it to use for working out on a treadmill, a bit too large for the application, but that is my issue. It clearly says in the description "more for permanent" use. Could be good or bad, just something to watch for.

CONS: Some people claim an ill fitting connection, I did not have this issue. However, my audio sounded awful. If I directly plugged into my receiver, the ear buds sounded great at volume 30. If I plugged in this extension (with a solid feeling connections on both ends), I could hear ZERO voice even turned up to 50 and some muffled audio and soft background noise. It was strange. Not sure what happened here, cable looked and felt good, must have been an internal issue.

A solid steel tank when you would get by with a balsa wood tricycle. Amazing.

I'm not just comparing these cables to other cables or other audio products. This is one of those rare companies or any kind that make something that is of such high quality that it vastly surpasses the needs and expectations of the buyer. Most cables are cheap junk. I never expected to find any that weren't. Instead, these are magnificently well made, solid, beyond any cable I have ever seen. I wanted to tell everyone. My highest praise is that this company joins the ranks of Spyderco knives and Wahl clippers as American companies that simply make a product that is the most well designed, best one can get, and will last forever. I was just stunned that a simple mini plug audio cable would be like this. I go to monoprice for any product they make, surely all cables, in the future.

This is a heavy duty coax cable that allows low loss for a 25 foot headphone extention.. It is really heavy wire and good connectors. I was impressed when I received it.

At first I bought a regular 50ft male-to-male audio cable from Monoprice, but it had interference issues and caused my speakers to hum when my computer was off. So I ordered a 25ft premium cable, which solved my issue of humming. This cable seems extremely well constructed, and it's quite a lot thicker than than regular cable. The left and right channels are shielded separately, and each of the two channels is considerably thicker than entire normal cable. The connectors are similarly large and rugged.

The description for these cables says "they are not as well suited for small portable applications where lightweight and high flexibility are desired", and that is absolutely the case, especially due to the large connectors. However, if you need a long cable for a stationary purpose and you're worried about either longevity or interference, you should definitely choose premium over regular.

PROS: Heavy duty construction, separately shielded left and right channels, gold contacts, cheap!

CONS: Too thick for some applications

I bought this cable to be able to connect my headphones to my home theatre receiver and keeping the greatest quality possible and it does it !

PROS: The cable is as described and is high quality !

I have never seen a thicker cord, they use the same wire as the premium rca connection cables which is a dual 75 ohm constant cable that is about 1/2 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick

Note that if you connect it to 1/8 ministereo jacks that it may not allow others to fit as the connector is over sized and may not allow it. This is relevant to people using it for computer soundcards that have many connectors next to each other.

I bought this cable specifically to use with my Sony ECM-CG50 shotgun microphone, to turn it into a boom mic. Not only does the cable carry power to the microphone from my camera but I can't sense any audio degradation or loss at all.

This cable is super tick and exactly what I needed as using if for a boom mic I wanted to ensure that it would last. Great price, great product.

CONS: If any, almost too thick. Better safe than sorry though.

I bought this cable to replace another 25ft male to female cable that had constant buzzing problems. This one delivers perfect sound quality and is an extremely heavy duty cable.

Pro: These "premium" cables are basically the best 3.5mm cables money can buy. Lucky for us consumers, they don't cost a lot and are the typical high quality I've come to expect from monoprice. These cables are so thick, I use a 3.5mm y cable to stress relief my headphone jack.

Con: These cables are VERY thick and not very malleable. Probably not the best cable to use with an ipod or portable media device. For fixed position devices such as pc's look no further.

This is a well-made, well-shielded cable with no degradation in sound quality. It *is* thick because the left and right channels are shielded and cabled separately from each other which means the cable is like 2 cables melded together. But, as long as you know it is thick and using a thin cable is not essential to your application, this is a very high quality cable.

I'm satisfied with the heavier cable coating along with the quality of the ends. It's not a single cable as I expected but a wider two-wire molded together design.

I thought it would be approx 3.5mm sheathing to go with the 3.5 connectors.
The sheathing is very thick and bulky. Not good for headphones but may be great for speakers.

PROS: very good sound quality from this cable

CONS: very heavy duty wire and insulation makes it heavy and bulky to deal with.

If you are looking for a permanent install solution and can handle the weight at the end of the cable, by all means buy this cable.

If you are using this with headset or portable device, think again. The cable weighs much more than any other part of your system. :(

PROS: This is a tank. Maybe even overkill for 1/8" headset.

CONS: The cable portion is just huge. It is TWO immense wires about 1/4" x 1/2" of wire. It is also quite heavy.

I cannot get a good connection at the female end. It makes crackling noises through the receiver or I get no connection at all.



I contacted Monoprice about this one and they sent me a replacement with the same issue. Today, I went to customer support and chatted with somebody named JOVIE. I offered to pay for a better cable. This time they told me to buzz off. Not their problem.



I think Radio Shack has better customer support. I will try their cables next.





PROS: It is GREAT if you like crackling noises or silence.

CONS: Everything. GARBAGE

The female end is out of spec. You get muffled sound or no sound at all. If you wiggle the connector around and slightly pull it out AND hold it you can make it work. You should be able to just plug it in and go. I'm not the only one to have this problem. I should have read the reviews before purchasing. Without this working cable my entire order is useless to me. I submitted an RMA request

My YPAO mic cord wasn't long enough to get from my receiver to the room my TV and speakers were in. I ordered this cable hoping it would work, and it did exactly that.



The cable is of good size and the receiver didn't have any problems with seeing the YPAO mic and doing a tune on the system.

PROS: very heavy duty!

I ordered 2 so I can connect my desktop to my stereo in the other room. Wonderful!

PROS: Nice and thick. Feels like top quality. Nice and tight connections. Easily bendable for getting around corners.

CONS: If you didn't know they were so thick, then maybe you couldn't tuck them under the baseboards on carpet.

PROS: Monoprice customer support. I have the comment below. Monoprice replaced the item no questions asked. New item works as described. This is my first ever issue with a monoprice item and they resolved the issue perfectly.

Pay attention to that picture this cable is seriously thick. I bought it to run under a rug without realising this, and now I have a lump running through my living room.



It's still an improvement over the one I got from Amazon which had the stereo channels reversed (frustratingly, these days it's impossible to correct that in Windows' sound control panel).

CONS: - Not very flexible

- Extremely noticeable if you choose to run it under a rug

Good Solid Cable

PROS: Good and sturdy.

CONS: It does not work with 3 channel headphones/devices. Example of a 3 channel is headphones with a mic like many apple headphones. Headphones without mikes it works fine.

Good quality, but for permanent , not to flexible.

PROS: Good quality and size of wire. Made well.

CONS: Mainly for 1 time connection/installation to fixed equipment as cable is not to flexible. Insulation is thick.

This transaction went great, the price was right and order was delivered well within expectations. As a couple of reviewers have mentioned, this cable is fairly heavy, and something to keep in mind, is that it is heavy enough to pull the lightwieight cable that comes with most headphones these days down, so you have to improvise a weight management system or it will stress the connections at the headphone. A minor thing, but if you don't account for it, it could ruin some headphones.

PROS: nice quality build product. Nice tight connection, and cable is not fragile.

CONS: The weight of the cable is significant enough to cause issues if you don't manage the stress that the weight creates.

Do not recommend - get a regular 3.5mm cable

CONS: This cable is really thick and consists of what looks like two coax cables... I do not recommend this cable as it is much too big

I bought mine sometime ago, but did not get around to actually using it until recently. Unfortunately, it was bad out of the bag. Just all hum. If I move it around it crackles and I may get some audio from it, but if it's touched, back to hum, loud hum too!



It'd be great to get a replacement....

I bought this cable and it did not work. I contacted Monoprice and they immediately sent out a replacement cable. The replacement cable did not work either so they refunded my money. Monoprice has EXCELLENT customer service. If it wasn't for that I would never buy from them.

First the cable is very good quality.
Second the cable is huge and heavy and not useful for much of anything.
The price fooled me into thinking these were just high quality normal 3.5mm extension cables, which they are not. These would be something I would expect to see in a HiFi speciality shop selling for what ever the owners conscience could bear.
I bought several of these cables in different lengths with the intention of using them as extensions for connecting phone, iPod, Ipad, and headphones to various gear.
While the cable is very flexible it is much to heavy to be plugging into a 3.5mm jack.
The cable is a molded twin lead design with the insulation for each lead being about the diameter of the average computer AC power cord.
Each end terminates into a heavy duty molded connector appropriately sized to match the girth and weight of the rest of the cable.

caveat emptor... be prepared to return cables
