- Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Category 5e Ethernet cable
- 30AWG stranded, pure bare copper conductors

Monoprice Ethernet cables are made of 100% pure bare copper wire, as opposed to copper clad aluminum (CCA) wire, and are therefore fully compliant with UL Code 444 and National Electrical Code TIA-568-C.2 fire and safety standards, which require pure bare copper wire in communications cables.
I look forward to ordering more products in the near future.
PROS: GREAT prices and GREAT customer satisfaction
Timely delivery and everything I expected and beyond satisfied...
PROS: Great cables for any field tech! I work outdoors and in any weather conditions! This cable had gotten me out of the rain plenty of times. Upgrading network system in the rain can damage your laptop. I used this to run it to my car and do all my update in a comfortable environment. I recommend this to anyone and everyone.

PROS: Great Product
PROS: Cable came quickly and was exactly what I expected
PROS: - cable looks/feels solid

CONS: nothing really...
PROS: Great price. Fast shipping. Product exactly what I wanted and works perfectly.
CONS: Shipping costs a little high.
Two alternatives sold by Monoprice are the ethernet over powerline converter (product ID 12288), which will allow transmission of data at 1 Gbps speeds to anywhere you have a plug or 9921, which allows transmission at 200 Mbps speeds with a wireless connection set up as well. Both offer the possibility of a secure environment, as well.
So why, then, did I buy this cable? I wanted to test a connection from another remote location where the powerline connectors would not have worked. And I didn't want to build a 100 foot cable to do it.
The upside to this cable, as has been pointed out in other reviews, is that it lies flat. The downside is that the first time you open it it is pretty hard to figure out how to get it not to "rats-nest." And if you can rewind it like it was when you got it, you have more patience than I do. I ended up doing the "no curl" hose wrap to store it.
Summary: Good product, but there are, for most applications, more effective products available. I would not buy this a second time without having an application that would not use those more effective products.
PROS: Lies flat
CONS: Hard to unwind (the first time) and hard to re-wrap
