i bought 2 of them,...i'm a television professional and i keep them in a padded pelican case in my tool kit (with other converters and devices) and have them on stand-by for jobs as needed. They have both failed at random times even though power lights have been on, then will magically start working again later.
One of the units has now failed completely and the 2nd unit i use only as a back-up on non critical items. I can't in good faith trust them anymore unfortunately.
Maybe these are from a bad batch or there has possibly has been a change or update that makes them better now
This is the first MonoPrice item that i have ever had any notable issue with and i have bought many, many, many items of the past 8 years or better with and it's not deterring me from buying other items.
PROS: cheap, small, and easy to keep in your tool kit
This mini splitter does exactly what I'd hoped. It takes the output from a mini HDMI to SDI converter and sends it via RG6 to two mini SDI to HDMI converters and TVs. Crisp, clear HD video and good, solid sound. Will buy again.
We have three 1080p TV's about 200 feet away from a laptop in an auditorium. Previously, we were using HDMI extenders and a splitter, but the signal wasn't completely stable and the TV's would occasionally go out and come back on. I tried using a different brand of 1x8 splitter, but it also wasn't 100% stable.
We swapped out our HDMI-to-SDI converter with a Monoprice one, and ran a dedicated line from the converter to one of the TV's and the other through the 1x8 splitter. The TV with the dedicated line was rock solid, whereas the one through the splitter occasionally glitched.
After replacing the 1x8 splitter with this, we haven't had a single glitch. This has been in place for about 3 weeks, and no issues at all.
I'd highly recommend Monoprice's SDI products, as they seem to be of decent quality and way less than BlackMagic products.
I need the same concept, but for my project I need (10) of these units for looping CCTV monitors. Overkill with (10) power supplies and (10) little boxes. Need something that would split (10) input BNC or more and one power supply. It would be camera in, out 1 to DVR out 2 to monitor. Nice product. Help
