HDMI or Mini HDMI? Based on the picture it looks like full sized HDMI. Is this converter itself referred to as "Mini" (compared to the full sized version) not the HDMI? Since there is also a "Mini" 3G-SDI to HDMI Converter that looks exactly the same.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. These units will use the full size HDMI port. "Mini" is just referring to the size of the converters and not the HDMI ports. It will be the same with the 3G-SDI ports.

Will this take hdmi output from computer and input the HD-SDI into the HD-SDI inputs on a dvr ?
    A shopper on Dec 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The above question and answer says that it's a full size HDMI. More important will be that your video card and OS support video/TV standard HDMI signals, modern cards do but this used to be a concern.
Is this powered by the HDMI connector? Or does it have a separate power supply?

This is really two questions. We use your Mini 3G-SDI to HDMI Converter and HDMI to 3G SDI Converter to use SDI cables for long runs. While some monitors and projectors (Veiwsonic) like the signal, ACER monitors will not recognize the same output. Take the Mini converters out of the equation and the ACER monitors work fine. That's a problem, why?
My second question is, will this monitor see the signal from HDMI to MINI converters via SDI and back to HDMI?

BEST ANSWER: If your cable runs are really long, longer than 100 meters, and you are attempting to drive 1080i or 1080p the issue you may be having could be the limitation of SDI. That is assuming you are using RG6, ideally RG6Q. I've had 1080p work over RG6Q up to 500ft, but there is no guarantee at that distance and really doesn't work beyond that.

Funny, it's an ACER you are having trouble with. I have an ACER next to me that worked just fine off one computer display port to HDMI but drops signal constantly on a different computer using displayport to HDMI. Have swapped cables and no changes. Have you tried a different monitor just to make sure it's not ACER?

    Great for the price
These converters are really nice and rugged. Especially for the price.

However, they only support SDI level A. This means that you can't use them with a lot of Blackmagic products, because most of their products are level B only. The mini and micro converters can though be configured to accept or send level A signal, therefore making them compatible, but it is definitely something to keep in mind.

    Works great
Pleased with the lower price, works great in situations where you don't need the dual SDI outputs of the larger version.
