Is this backwards compatible with older non-hd cctv cameras?
    Richard S on Feb 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If your camera can connect to the SDI then yes it will output to HDMI. The picture my be cropped depending on the output scaling.
how many of this unit can be daizy-chained/cascaded together to distribute one HD-SDI signal source (e.g. HD-SDI program out from ATEM TVS to 4 HDMI projectors) ? what is the latency like, for every loop-out from each cascaded unit ?
    New User U on Feb 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We have found that your better installation - if possible - would be to go out of a 4 X 1 Switch to 4 of the individual converters on the display end. Yet you could also go out with a 2 X 1 Switch to two of your displays and then daisy chain a second projector on each end. We would generally go out to distribution hubs in the system rather than a continuous looping to a large quantity of displays. No latency should be experienced. We also recommend a very high quality coaxial cable such as Belden 1694. And high quality BNC Connectors.

BEST ANSWER: I have never tried it with standard SDI always used it with HD-SDI. You might want to look at a Decimator Cross.

Works as it says, I run 1 200' HD-SDI cable to the front of ballroom, then loop out to another 100' to a monitor, then loop to another monitor that's another 100'

    PROS: Works PERFECT!!

    CONS: none

    Fantastic product
I installed 3 of these at my church to convert HD-SDI signals from my black magic design Atem switcher and all I can say is these things have been flawless so far(4 months)! if your looking for a less expensive alternative to the mini-converters this is the ticket.

    PROS: works as advertised

    CONS: none for my use

    Two thumbs up
I am using several of these to convert SDI cameras to HDMI for monitoring. SDI pass through allows SDI signal to then go to switcher. I have purchased several of these types of converters from various manufacturers. Most, but not all, work completely plug-and-play. This one performs as well as those for quite a bit less $$$.

PROS: Small, inexpensive (from 1/3 to 1/5 the price of competitors). Total plug and play. It works.

    CONS: None

    Worth the $$$
Quality design, great picture, with the money. Low cost product offering a great value above the name brands.

    Great Buy
I decided to jump into the deep end on this unit and put it on a show with very picky clients. Never glitches...not once!

The cost savings allowed me to make multiple devices. I basically got 3 for the price of 1 of the competitor devices.

    PROS: Compact and reliable

    CONS: none...yet

Could not get it to work with a Blackmagic ATEM 2M/E Switcher
Title says it all. I was unable to get this converter to work with a Blackmagic ATEM 2M/E Switcher. It could be user error or just a spec difference, I believe the switcher is 6G SDI which is obviously a mismatch with the 3G SDI as published here. If there's a solution to this, I would like to get it working, but with the official Blackmagic Micro converters not much more expensive, I'm just not sure it's worth the effort.

    PROS: small, cheap

    CONS: only 3G SDI

    Great Product!
Does exactly as advertised, I have 4 of them running 1080p over SDI cable. No noise, interference or other issues yet. Best price I've found for a product like this. Haven't tested 4k yet. Wish they packaged screws to mount it as well, other than that I'm satisfied.

PROS: Inexpensive, High Quality, Durable, Clean Look,

CONS: Should include screws to mount to wall/surface.

So far they have worked well, delivery of the converters was prompt.

Just as good as the AJA Hi5
My company does press conferences and live events with 32" to 55" LCD screens all over the place. I've been field-testing this against our phalanx of AJA Hi5 units, and it stands up just as wellit doesn't have the analog audio out, but I have NEVER used that function, and don't think I'll ever need to. I've already bought two of these, and will definitely get more when the need arises!

    PROS: Small footprint

    Reclocking output

    No-nonsense interface

Works just good as it's $295 cousins
Nine nights in a row of outdoor theatre. I had these units in the orchestra pit showing the video of the production to the musicians in the pit. They worked flawlessly

PROS: Work perfectly! I just used two of these units in a daisy chain for nine nights outside. They work like a charm. Nothing to fiddle with, no switches.....just plug them in and they work. I have other units from other manufacturers that are around $300 and these are just as good!

CONS: None! Sometime, however, it would be nice if MONOPRICE made a good 5 volt adaptor that would let us power all of their boxes by battery! Just a thought!
