VGA to Component (YpbPr) Converter
Mirror the your PC's VGA output to a Component Video equipped HDTV with this adapter from Monoprice!
This adapter accepts VGA video and 3.5 mm analog stereo audio input signals, and converts them to Component Video (YPbPr) signals for output to an HDTV. It includes pass-through connections for the VGA and stereo audio signals, so you can continue to use your PC's VGA monitor and stereo speakers without conversion or interruption of any kind.
The converter is powered by a 5 VDC AC adapter (included) and has Power, SD/HD, and Mode buttons. The SD/HD button switches between 480p, 720p, and 1080i output resolutions, while the Mode button controls video output filters for Normal, Vivid, Soft, and Sharp settings.
Note that for best results the computer display should be set to a resolution that best matches the the output resolution. See the included manual for details.

Questions and Answers
PROS: Low cost. Metal case. Simple setup.
CONS: Only supports a couple of resolutions, oddly HD resolution on the PC desktop (1280x720) isn't one of them! Has horizontal offset to the left of about 80-100 pixels of black with a green line in the middle from top to bottom of the picture. Video hue is WAY off - won't reproduce SMPTE color bars properly. You can see the offset and green line problem in the YouTube Video link I provide. Both converters did this.
PROS: Price. Monoprice service.
CONS: Will not accept a HD resolution. The native resolution of this thing is 1024 x 768. It won't accept an input of anything higher 1280 x 1024. None of these resolutions are a wide screen format or HD. To me, that makes NO sense, because component resolution is 1280 x 720.

CONS: Made the picture blue

PROS: Plug and play, worked pretty much after a restart of the system. I can always rely on Monoprice.
CONS: I haven't fiddled with it much but the screen appears framed or something, it probably just doesn't translate directly. Also, the instructions basically tell you to set your resolution to 1024x768 which sort of stretches things. Maybe I'll try a 1080 resolution and see what happens.
