What is the latency of this converter? Looking to use my PC to emulate games on a CRT component TV and I want low latency.
    A shopper on Sep 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: In my experience, there is virtually no latency. If there is any, it's just so low that I haven't even realized it was there. You should be good to go, ESPECIALLY with a CRT.
If I feed 480p as input and set 480p output will there be an input lag greater than 1ms? I say greater than 1ms because I don't want an answer simply stating your extending the length of video signal by 12inches.

can u connect a ps2 slim to a pc monitor?
    New User U on Sep 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, that's not the function of this device. You're thinking of it backwards--the component ports on the device are the outputs, not the inputs. You must connect a VGA source, such as a computer, to the VGA inputs; then, you must use the component ports to connect the device to a TV's component slots.

If it's possible to connect a PS2 Slim to a PC, you will need a component to VGA adapter. This device here is the opposite (a VGA to component adapter).
If the resolution output through the VGA connector is lower than 480p or is interlaced, does this adapter still convert it to component?
    A shopper on Aug 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, it is rated to do 480 at the lowest and I could not even get that to work with my TV

    Does as advertised...but poorly.
If you don't care about video quality and don't mind the offset and limited resolution then this product is for you. Professionals should avoid it however.

PROS: Low cost. Metal case. Simple setup.

CONS: Only supports a couple of resolutions, oddly HD resolution on the PC desktop (1280x720) isn't one of them! Has horizontal offset to the left of about 80-100 pixels of black with a green line in the middle from top to bottom of the picture. Video hue is WAY off - won't reproduce SMPTE color bars properly. You can see the offset and green line problem in the YouTube Video link I provide. Both converters did this.

Ok if you don't want to send it and HD VGA Resolution
Make a box that can accept a Native HD resolution via VGA, and output said resolution to RGB video. Why is that such a difficult concept? Mine is going back because it's useless.

    PROS: Price. Monoprice service.

CONS: Will not accept a HD resolution. The native resolution of this thing is 1024 x 768. It won't accept an input of anything higher 1280 x 1024. None of these resolutions are a wide screen format or HD. To me, that makes NO sense, because component resolution is 1280 x 720.

    Works great
We have 2 VGA ports we needed to connect to a HDTV but only one VGA on the TV. This converter box works perfectly to connect our PC to the Component connection of the TV.

PROS: Works perfectly. Converts VGA to component video. Even converted the 3.5mm audio to RCA.

CONS: First item recieved not working properly (lines through the image). They shipped out a second one right away and it works great!

    Response from Monoprice

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the experience you have had with PID 8668. If I may ask, what devices were you connecting with this converter? Did you happen to try other devices to see if that made any difference? What about different cables? Also, has this been an issue since you first received the converter?

Please let me know if the problem still occurs. If it does, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement to see if it will work better. We do cover this product with a one year warranty and obtaining a replacement is of no additional cost. Or I can help setup an RMA for a return instead if you would prefer. If you want to continue with an RMA, please let me know if you wanted to return it or obtain a replacement. Thank you!

    Using Projection TV as monitor
I bought this unit to replace and old analog version and the quality is night and day. The digital quality is excellent and certainly much cheaper than a monitor. Well worth the investment.

PROS: Easy set up and excellent picture quality. Using on a 48" projection TV and i absolutely flawless picture.

CONS: Adjusting the size of the picture. It may be the TV and not the box but I can work with it.

    Well Made Product
Product was not what I needed but that my was my fault. Without using the product I cannot review how it works, however, it seems very well put together, feels tough and able to handle some rough handling. The composite cables that were included seemed a bit short, but that trivial.

    Works great
I'm using this to convert the VGA out of a security DVR to component video for distribution to TVs. A previous VGA to component converter did not work because it wouldn't scale the picture also. This worked almost right away. I wish the manual did a better job explaining what the buttons did and/or how to change settings but you can just hook it up and start pressing to figure it out I guess.

    PROS: Works easily

    Scaler and converter

    CONS: Needs better instructions.

    Workmanship and Functionality
This converter works absolutely fine. I set it up between my old 65 inch screen tv and my Dell laptop and playstation 3. I am now able to work with both units switching back and forth as desired. Picture is clear so the connectors are superior and streaming movies, using Netflix or using a DVD in either the laptop or the playstation is drama free. The only thing I need now is an audio cable of equal length as the 25 ft. VGA cable. The present audio cable is only 6 ft. so I have to leave the laptop sitting next to the converter with the audio cable going through the converter and into the tv. Sound is great so the converter is on point. With a 25 ft. audio cable I can sit the laptop next to my lounge chair. Good idea to anticipate your viewing distance requirement.

PROS: Unit was simple to link up and the connections were easy to figure out, directions are clear and the clearity is superb.

    CONS: No cons to mention.

Makes a standard-looking TV appear nearly high def!
I have a 480p EDTV (Sanyo brand) which looks okay with its composite and S-video laptop connections, but when I hook up my laptop to the TV with this converter, the quality is so high that I can even read icon text. The only slight shortcoming is that the different resolutions have a big of "jaggedness" to them, but adjusting your laptop's internal resolution helps. It's not difficult to find a setting that works out well.
