Does this support HDR? What I'm looking to do is run inputs into this device, one output for video to TV that supports HDR, and the other output to the receiver to get uncompressed audio from the same input source. Does that sound possible with this device?
    New User U on Aug 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This unit will not support HDR

    Thanks
If I plugged an HDCP enabled device, such as a Playstation 3, would it bypass/strip the HDCP for the 'Out' signal? I'm looking for a 6x2 device that can bypass HDCP and support 4K for video recording, streaming, and editing purposes. I'm looking to make this purchase by the weekend.
    New User U on Jul 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This device supports all HDCP protocols. It will not bypass. thanks for asking.
Can anyone confirm whether this matrix supports HDMI 2.0? I see support for HDCP 2.2 which probably means it also supports HDMI 2.0 but the bandwidth specs: 2.97Gbps/channel (8.91Gbps total) seem odd.
    Steve V on Dec 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: While it says it does support HDCP 2.2 it, in fact, does not.
I see this unit has a toslink audio out. Which of the input sources would be output from this port? I am hoping to output digital audio from several HDMI sources to my stereo receiver's toslink input from the switcher's toslink audio out. Input sources include blu-ray, cable box and smart TV. The TV has ARC HDMI input, so also hope to connect to TV once via the ARC HDMI and also send this source via toslink to my stereo receiver. Is this all possible?
    New User U on Aug 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You are describing this units intended purpose. Toslink will output all input sources. Toslink will output what ever is being output on HDMI output A.

The unit will support ARC audio when the ARC option is selected.
    Does this support CEC pass-through?
    Israel B on Apr 12, 2017
The manual suggests only HDMI input 1 is HDCP 2.2 compliant (p.4 under 'Attention') . Is this correct or are all 6 input ports HDCP 2.2? Also would I be able to use one HDMI port for picture and HDMI output 2 for sound? (i.e. for Amazon Fire box and a projector)
    A shopper on Mar 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Only Input 1 is HDCP 2.2 compliant.

    Thank you
I have bought 2 6x2 HDMI Matrix products from different manufacturers for my game room. I have 6 different game systems hooped up to 2 different TV outputs. Both units I have tried so far, the audio on one TV would cut out constantly if both tv's were displaying different inputs. They worked ok if the same input was running to both TV's. Does this product suffer from the same issue? Or can I run different inputs on both outputs with no audio loss?
    A shopper on Apr 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. It sounds like there may have been issues with the units you had used. This unit would have no issues being able to have 2 inputs being used for either or both TVs.
Does this unit have discrete power on and power off IR codes? The remote only has a power toggle button - but that doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't discrete codes available.
Does anybody have a list of the infrared hex codes for the buttons on the remote and/or the discrete power on/power off? (my remote stopped working and I'd like to program a universal remote)

Can I control this with my logitech harmony remote control or the logitech harmony hub?
    New User U on Feb 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I just added mine under HDTV Supply 4K 6x2 HDMI Matrix Switcher, when you add it put "Blackbird" as the brand and "4K 6x2 HDMI Matrix Switcher" as the model number and click add. It will show you a list and you can select the one that reads "HDTV Supply 4K 6x2 HDMI Matrix Switcher", it has all the buttons mapped.
Will this work if I connect the output to a HDbaseT extender?
    Andrew N on Feb 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes.the question is do you need 6 hdmi inputs?
I bought this switcher and lost the remote. Do you sell a replacement remote for this switcher?
    A shopper on Jun 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we would not carry the remote controller for this unit separate from the unit. I do apologize for any inconvenience.
    Two questions:

Can this be powered on/ off with the remote? I see in the photos the unit has a power toggle but the remote appears to have a power button as well, maybe it goes into standby?

My current matrix (cheap one) has a lot of flicker when changing channels with my cable box and takes a long time to see the channel when changed, how does this one do?
    Thomas S on Dec 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The power button on the remote puts the unit into standby mode. The power toggle switch on the unit turns it off. I only have had one problem with this switch. When I power on the TV and DirecTV DVR, I often don't have sound. The work around is to power off the switch and turn it back on. This only happens on my Samsung 9500 series TV. I have the same switch on my LG OLED and I don't have this problem. it makes me think this is a problem with the Samsung. There are no problem with switching between devices or switching channels.

    Enjoy.
Will this work with a Harmony Hub Remote?
    Andrew N on Mar 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I have owned multiple versions of harmony and multiple HDMI switches. If you have an IR remote your Harmony remote can learn from it, even if it is not on the list of available devices in harmony
Is it capable of overlaying (superimposing) on source on top of the other?
    - JC
    A shopper on Feb 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The device has 2 outputs so you can run a Hdmi cable to a TV and a receiver to get sound from one source and video from another. . If you had a second TV you could display a completely different source on 2 TVs. But the pip that comes with the. Device is too small to use but it superimposes 5 sources on to 1 screen. Hope this answers your question.
Can this be used with a hdmi to dvi converter? I have an older HDTV that I would like to add HDMI to
    A shopper on Mar 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would expect this to work, with the audio extracted and sent through the optical TOSLINK output. I have not tested this configuration so I can't confirm it works problem-free.
Is (if so how) the MHL input different than the other hdmi inputs?
    A shopper on Dec 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: From the web - I can't verify this specifically for this switch, but here is what should be different - the primary feature is that it is for connection mobile/ audio to the matrix so that you can send video/audio to your TV or similar device, while powering the phone/tablet.

    • The TV provides power to the connected device (5 V DC/500 mA with MHL 1.0, 5 V DC/900 mA with MHL 2.0)

    • Uses a single, thin cable to connect the mobile device to the TV.

    • The TV remote has the ability to control the connected device through HDMI-CEC (Anynet+). Although, with mixed manufacturer this function is not guaranteed.

    • Streaming 1080p uncompressed HD video.

    • 8 channel uncompressed audio (e.g., 7.1 surround sound).

    • Supports High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP).
I’m looking for a solution to mirror multiple HDMI inputs (at least one HDCP 2.2) to two different resolution outputs (4K on one TV, 720p on another). Will this do it? If yes, how about with HDCP 2.2 compliant video (i.e. UHD FireTV output to both TVs, even though the second is an older 720p)?
    New User U on Jul 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. The resolution you are sending from your source is what you get out.
Can it cascade to another unit?
    A shopper on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but the unit must have the same specs.
How will it work using toslink and stereo ports simultaneously? also will it switch automatically from 2.0-5.1-7.1ch using toslink?
    A shopper on Feb 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does not work that way. When the original program is code in 2.0 or 5.1, this box does not translate it into 7.1. Your receiver processes it into 7.1 format but the signal for the two or five additional speakers to make 7.1 will not contain the signal. Toslink contains 5.1 signal format and 2.0 contains only left and right channels only.
So, potentially you can send one HDMI output to your TV and one to your receiver to have sound and video at the same time....would that work?

Can I choose which source is the large picture and which is the pip picture? Would like to watch tv from cable box while streaming the baby monitor through chrome cast or something.

Blackbird 4k 6x2 HDMI Matrix with Audio, HDCP 2.2
While it supports 4K viewing (HDCP 2.2), it does not support HDR/Deep Color so I had to return it for refund.

Looks like a well made product

    HDCP 2.2 not working
This is my second unit unit from Monoprice to deal with the HDCP 2.2 not working. If you are considering using this to switch any copy protected sources, 4k Bluray, Netflix or any Amazon streaming 4K that is copy protected this unit does NOT work. Period

4k only works with port 1! Not in specifications or description
4k only works for the 1st hdmi port. Description and specs on the product does not state it. Useless if you are running more than (1) 4k media. Needs to be returned.

    Great feature on affordable price.
I was looking for hdmi switcher to replace my dvdo duo that die on me (haven't use the cms since I calibrated TV by myself but I missed the color generator).
I need a switcher that can split audio signal to feed my PRE/AVR and this unit works great.
You need to connect the output 1 (arc) to TV (arc) and then the audio signal will go tru output 2.
Haven't test with 4K source or HDR yet but so far it works what I need for now.

At this price it beat others hdmi switcher by far.
Hope it can do HDR (well maybe not cause it need hdmi 2.0a at least)

    PROS: Price

CONS: Should have coax audio output.
6 hdmi inputs not much .. not less .. but the more the merrier. (I was looking for 8x2 but they don't have it)

This unit can do 4K@60 at 4:2:0
I just update a new GPU that support 4K. So, I just have a chance to test it with 4K.
When changing resolution to 4K. It always goes to 4K@30 but you can change it to 4K@60 (4:2:0).

I might look for another unit that support 4k@60 on 4:4:4 but right now I will live with it cause the one that support full 4k still expensive.

A Solid Matrix Switcher with Excellent Features
We are very happy with this device. We picked it up for $79.99—an absolute STEAL if you can grab one at that price, but still a good value at the current price of $109.99. Multiple audio extraction options, including Toslink optical and TRS mini headphone jacks are very nice. The included remote control is reliable and easy to use.

THANK YOU Monoprice for keeping the bar high on quality and value. I don’t know how you do it, but we are glad you do.

    Great solution for multiple devices
Best bang for the buck. Works as advertised. I don’t have a smart TV and the optical audio is disabled on my Sharp. This device allows me to easily switch between inputs. Highly recommend this as an affordable solution!
