    Does this support ARC?
    A shopper on Jul 13, 2017
it isn't clear to me from the description: can I have a game system playing on one output, and TV on the other, or do they both show the same thing?
    Tim O on Jan 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I purchased this one for a client and from what I understand the output A & B will show the same input image on both A & B if selected. I don't think you can have two different inputs showing at the same time.
    Does it support hdxp 2.2?
    Pascal R on Dec 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, unfortunately while this Blackbird Matrix fully supports 4K resolutions, it is not HDCP 2.2 or HDMI 2.0 compatible. We other models that are specific to meeting HDCP 2.2 standards. Please contact Customer support at tech@monoprice.com if you would like any further recommendations. Thank you for your question.
One review said there was a 6 to 8 second delay while switching. Does the video screen go plank during this delay? Will this amplify signal for long runs?
    chris w on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I do not have this issue with my monitors on my two computers. Granted it takes a second or two, but no more. Be sure you get cables with the recommended ratings..
How well does Monoprice Blackbird 4K 4x2 Matrix HDMI Powered Switch with Remote Control work with hdmi arc? I have a problem with the two tvs that are connected to the above mentioned switch turning each other on or off!

I bought this specifically to switch from the display port on my mac to a dvd player. Works with the dvd player but not the lap top. Any insight? I switched ports and cables, didn't fix the problem. Mac will display when run directly to the projector. So far its a paper weight.

    Works OK if forcing EDID
    Purchased on Monoprice Ebay store.

I have the following input sources plugged in: PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and a STB IPTV Box. I have output A running to my A/V Receiver (Home theater projector). And I have a 50ft HDMI Luxe running from output B all the way to my computer monitor.

Leaving the EDID in the Automatic position (1111) causes some weird things to happen. When switching switching sources for a particular output, it can cause the other output to lose signal temporarily. My guess is while the processing of figuring out which EDID to use is going on, it has to temporarily suspend the outputs. All my current devices hooked up to it are 1080p, so what I did was set the EDID to 0010 (1080p HD Audio 7.1). When doing so I'm able to switch sources much quicker, and also eliminates the weird dropout problem on the other output.

I'm not sure if you can force an EDID if you have a mixture of 4K and 1080p sources. Although my STB outputs at 720p and works fine with the 1080p EDID setting forced. So it's possible you can just force a 4K EDID and it will work with all devices. Unfortunately I don't have a 4K source or display to test this with.

This is the only HDMI Matrix I've found at this price point to have the ability to force a particular EDID and is potentially why you see so many negative reviews on other HDMI Matrices/Switches around the web that automatically figure out EDID information and probably exhibit the same issues I had with the Auto (1111) setting. Could be why Monoprice decided to include this feature.

So I HIGHLY recommend you force a particular EDID with this matrix if you want faster source switching and to avoid weird dropout problems when switching sources.

Solved My EDID HDMI Handshake issues
I had the older version of this switcher (404HDX-E i believe)
I bought a new Apple tv 4 and started to get black screens due to handshake issues.
The MonoPrice staff pointed me toward this unit and said it should take care of any issues I'm having.

Great advice yet again, thank you.

PROS: Small, Easy to set up even with Harmony Remotes, Inexpensive

    Pretty good.
This product works great for what i needed it for.
Only con I would say about it is the 6 - 8 sec wait to switch between inputs but other then that does what it suppost to do.

    Lags on Input Switch
This unit is nice an compact and a great price, but there are too many flaws to make it a repeat purchase.

The largest of which is the sever lag in changing inputs. Experiences approximately 10 second black screen.

This was used for two laptops going to dual monitors. The input switch also required us to undock, and re-dock the machines for the display to show properly.

    It's Working
I believe I happened upon the limitations of the product. Originally had it hooked up to a DVR/Cable Box and Blu-Ray/Streamer as follows:
3-foot cable from DVR to matrix, 6 feet to wall plate coupler, 25 feet to TV. It was working with some interruptions.
Moved things around, changed it to: 2 feet from DVR to matrix, 1 foot to wall plate coupler, 25 feet to TV. Works fine.

    Great for a tradeshows!
I picked this up for a low-cost solution to switch between 3 inputs and 2 tv's and it worked flawlessly.

Great solution, would have liked it even more if it could be USB powered.

    Excellent product
I am impressed with this matrixsplitter, it works so much better than my previous splitter. I had to continually "reset" the splitter to get a picture with my video projector in my main viewing room. Not any more, this model has performed flawlessly, to this point.

Perfect for price. Fits my needs well.
Works very well. Functions as advertised. I would recommend this item. Even when splitting one source to 2 monitors/tvs very little quality loss. I also had an older version and upgraded to this. I'll probably do the same again when the time comes.
