What's the maximum length hdmi cable this supports?
    Neil M on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, signal length is ultimately dependent on the source device. So if your device can output to 100ft then this will work with 100ft devices. I hope that answers your question, and thank you!
Can you please list link to a specific power supply that will work with this device? My splitter does not work on my receiver.
    New User U on May 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry to hear that, it sounds like it may be a compatibility issue. I would recommend testing the splitter on a cable box or dvd/bluray player to ensure you do not have a defective item.

Should you require additional assistance, please reach out to our tech support team with a detailed summary of the issue you are experiencing via any of the methods available here:

Does this also split the sound? Want to send to a TV in another room and need both video and audio.
    Brian H on Mar 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: HDMI will always carry both. That's one of its biggest advantages. Only one cable to carry both audio and video. I had to replace my old cable box recently that only had component video and the new one has HDMI. A single HDMI cable replaced FIVE cables that my old box needed to the TV.
Neither the product manual or the not so "Full Specs" say what the connection on USB power type/size is, nor is it viewable in the images given. I see in the comments "barrel connector" but no size. Is it typical 2.1mm x 5.5mm DC Connector? or what?
    D Scott B on Sep 10, 2017
The description says it grabs power from the HDMI bus but, some people are saying that it needs an adapter. The pictures don't show a place for one. Is there a barrel jack for 5v input?
    Kris A on Jan 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There's a small barrel jack on the same side as the HDMI input. It will steal power from the HDMI source if it is available, but not all devices make (enough) power available.
Is this device passive or active?
    New User U on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is an active adapter. Thanks for the question.
I want to hook this up to a 32" 1080p TV and a 4K TV. Will the 4K TV be able to run 4K while the 1080p TV runs 1080p? Or will both TV's have to run the same resolution?
    A shopper on Apr 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is merely a distribution amplifier, not a scaler, so the same signal gets sent to both. Depending on how it handles EDID (I'm not sure) and what order displays are connected, the best case is that both get 1080p video, but you may see 4K video on your 4K display and a "unsupported format"-type message on the other.
I have a TV with just one hdmi input. Can this be plugged into the TV, then have the cable HD DVR cable box and a blue ray player plugged into the adapter?
    A shopper on May 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No - This is a one -way splitter. It splits the active signal into two active signals. It would not be able to process two signals, nor would it be able to "choose" which signal to view on your TV. You need a video selector switch. how long is the pig tail hdmi cable?
    anyaka j on Dec 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I am not where I can see mine at this moment, but I would say 18 inches.
does it come with the power adapter?
    New User U on Feb 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No didn't need one for my setup. Feeding via PC USB to PC Moniter and TV my security cams and movies run on PC with the switch I cam see them on TV screen across the room.
Can i "extend my monitor" to the second screen, in other words, can i drag one thing from one screen to the other?
    New User U on Feb 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'dragging'. You can view the same thing on both monitors. The purpose of this pigtail is to split a 4K signal. For example, if you have 2 monitors (a TV and projector) and want to use a source with one HDMI out (a 4K BluRay player) you can watch a 4K movie on either of the monitors or both. The attached HDMI cord goes into the HDMI out of the source component. You will need 2 extra HDMI cables for outputs 1 &2.
can you use this to add an amazon stick if you have another device as an xbox hooked up to it also?
    A shopper on Feb 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not sure how you'd do it. It's a pigtail, so 1 male in and 2 females out. Are you going through a switch? I can test firestick but not Xbox.
I want to play video from my laptop to 2 HD tv's at the same time. Each TV is about 25 ft away from the laptop. Will this device work, or do i need to get a splitter with an amplifier?
    New User U on Apr 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You might need one with a amplifier but I'm not sure, I'm using this one off a Directv box going to two different TVs but they are not far apart as one sits on ether side of a bedroom wall. Even when both TVs are on the signal to the TVs never degrades and we get a great picture on both. One TV is using a 10 ft HDMI cable while the other one is on a 15 ft HDMI cable.
    Will it carry CEC commands?
    Mariano F on Jan 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: CEC Commands Consumer Electronic Commands a Feature of HDMI Designed to ALLOW Users to Command and Control devices through HDMI BY USING ONLY ONE REMOTE CONTROL. Did Work For Me Briefly. But Since I Did NOT Have the Correct AWG WIRE GRADE HDMI CABLE. I Lost the Signal. Yes It Worked JUST BE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT AWG HDMI CABLES TO INSURE THE SIGNAL IS ON POINT.
Will this display on two screens? I have a laptop with an HDMI output. I have two monitors and I want to display my laptop on them as separate screens?
    Mike M on Oct 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will. BUT... be careful how long the cables are. Mine were less than 10’.
Has anyone used this with an iPhone AV Adapter (MD826ZM/A)? I'm contemplating setting up headrest monitors in my vehicle and would like to be able to serve synced video from an iPhone/iPad. I'm questioning if that'd carry the necessary bus power, or if I'd need to get one of the 5v powered boxes.

Heads Up: 5VDC adapter not included.
An adapter is not included. It is noted that an adapter is an option however there is no link nor information provided to help you purchase one in the event one is needed. In my experience, as others, this splitter will not work without an adapter. Fortunately electronics is my hobby & I have a stash of varying adapter, one of which worked.
I have been very happy with my purchases thru Monoprice with this exception & this review is meant for a heads up to help other avoid added frustration of time & expense.

works greatbut needs power supply if all of the connected devices are turned off
This is a fast acting switch that serves the purpose I wanted it for. It would have been nice to do without the power supply, but the device will not activate initially, even with source and two destination devices connected and turned on. Connecting a power supply activates it and you can then disconnect the external power and it will function. However, if all connected devices are powered off, you need the power supply to re-initiate the splitter.

After switching from cable to DirecTV I was experiencing a 'snowy' picture issue I never had before. The set up: DirecTV Genie (replacing cable box), IOGear HDMI switch, Samsung receiver, Asus projector. If I went Genie directly to receiver, no problems but that meant plugging and unplugging AppleTV & Roku. DirecTV had no answer (not surprised), IOGear was surprised at a switch issue and helped, even sent a free power supply to see if that would resolve the issue. The resolution (common issue!) was to add this splitter after the IOGear switch and add a power supply (to IOGear) and VOILA all works! Please note I received excellent help and advice from Robert H in Tech Support, he was fully knowledgeable of this issue. Share this with those who are frustrated with lost picture/sound do to HDCP (DirecTV and Verizon). Thank you Monoprice!

PROS: Resolved ALL HDCP Issues for $20!

CONS: None, but would be nice if it included a 5v power supply.

    Worked great
I originally bought a cheap 4 position splitter with power adapter off of EBay to split my TV output on my Onkyo receiver. I had a bitch of a time getting that unit to work properly with my TV and Projector. I replaced it with Monoprice's pigtail splitter and it worked fantastic, no power issues, no upgrades needed. Bonus to not need another power source.

Blackbird 4K 1x2 HDMI Pigtail Splitter - where is the 5 VDC 500mA AC power adapter!?
in addition to not including an AC adapter (that other mfgers do at this price point) the users manual does not indicate what size plug works on the splitter nor does it indicate if the center is positive or negative. No clue on what AC adapter out there will work! Customer service not - they said go to Radio Shack! And in between the lines their attitude was you are on your own - buy our product and when it does not work - figure it out yourself! Another hard lesson from a corporation that does not adequately support their product.

PROS: if product does not work and customer service cannot direct buyer to additional product source that will help their product work (AC adapter) there are no "pros"

CONS: AC adapter not provided. Other mfgers are providing one! AC adapter specs not provided - pigtail splitter does not indicate if center prong is negative or positive, size of AC adapter plug not indicated - how is one to find the right 5 VDC 500mA AC adapter without this information?

    Works great!
I used this to replace a powered splitter in my van. I have 1 HDMI out to the front and 1 out to the back and the powered splitter wouldn't always work. However, this unit works every time so far.

    PROS: Ease of use

CONS: Not really a con but the blue light is really bright.

    Foolish Product offering
Bought one for obvious reasons. The plug-and-play pitch didn't work with my Onkyo receiver as it needed a power supply, and dumb me, I didn't buy one when I initially purchased through monoprice. Spent the morning looking through Monoprice.com and they don't sell this very specific 5 V 500mA power adapter either. Foolish of monoprice to sell this product without the power supply; charge an extra $3 - $5 and don't make it a customer hassle. Found power supply options on other sites, but not sure if the plug mm size will be correct.
