I want to hook up two HD TV's - Do I have to have both TV's on at the same time? One is in the liv room and the other right behind the wall in the bedroom. Just want to use one set top box. One tv is 4k and the other is 1080. Will I be able to use 4k if I unplug the 1080 tv? Thanks for any help

BEST ANSWER: No you do not need to have both TVs on at same time. And yes you can have different resolutions for the two TVs
My devices (cable box, blu-Ray) currently input to my receiver. The receiver outputs to my current 1080p tv. I am getting a second tv that is 4k hdr and want to input to it from the same receiver. Can I input to this splitter and output from it to a 1080p tv and a 4k her tv and both sets get the correct signal?

BEST ANSWER: With regards to your question a splitter will allow you to display the common lowest resolution that both tvs can support. So in your setup 1080P would be the supported resolution output from the splitter. Hope this answers your question.
I want to run 2 4K TV's on this from my DIRECT box. Will it work?

Does this unit support active cables?
    A shopper on May 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. You would be able to use Active HDMI cables with this splitter. However, we recommend using them for the output cables rather than using them as an input cable. This would be due to active cables requiring the end labeled "TV" or "Display" to be plugged into your TV.

My Chromecast connected to an older TV via the Blackbird 4K 7.1 audio extractor cannot negotiate the 5.1 EDID the Chromecast requires. Would this unit solve it for me? I would attach the Chromecast to the splitter, set the dip switches for 1080p and 5.1, then set the extractor to TV and connect the two outputs of the splitter to the TV and the extractor, which will only handle analog audio out and the hdmi out on that unit would not be connected. The idea is to get the Chromecast to negotiate 5.1 with the splitter instead of it "seeing" the 2-channel TV EDID. The TV will, of course, downmix the 5.1 input from the splitter to 2 channels, but as I'm ignoring the TV audio and only using the audio coming through the extractor to my 5.1 analog stereo system, that's OK.

Does exactly what it promises, if you have problems with finicky hdmi negotiation, this is your ticket.
Does exactly what it says on the box. I've used precivious splitters before and they were always finicky with my av receiver (I'm plugging a projector and TV into my receiver.) with this box, I forced it to output 1080p 5.1 and all my devices work perfectly and it instantly connects. No more waiting for it to handshake, or random blank screens that require a restart of the hdmi splitter to work.

If you're having issues outputting to multiple sources, get one of these splitters with edid management.

Blackbird 4K Pro 1x2 HDMI Ultra Slim Splitter with EDID Management
If you are in need of an HDMI splitter that will provide the proper EDID signal to satisfy your HDTV set when being fed by external switching devices, this will solve your problem. It corrected my situation with two satellite receivers and an Apple TV box running through a Monoprice 8151 4x4 Matrix Switcher feeding HDTV's of different resolutions. My problem was with the Apple TV box not providing a stable picture once passed through the 8151. The Blackbird 4K Pro 1x2 HDMI Ultra Slim Splitter with EDID Management allowed the Apple TV signal to synchronize to the various HDTV's being fed by the 8151.

    Well worth the investment!!

Pushes HD through 50 ft. cable
I waited before reviewing this little splitter until I got to try it. I can't say how long it will work, but it pushes HD signal through a 50 ft HDMI cable.

Blackbird 4K Pro 1x2 HDMI Ultra Slim Splitter with EDID Management
I'll give this 4 stars as I've little doubt it is a quality designed and functioning product. An explanation for what I wanted if for is in order. I was hoping to split an incoming HDMI through the splitter from a single TV out HDMI output.; but, not knowing and understanding, the device is not designed to do what exactly I was trying to accomplish.. I Had 3 components to connect. A Google Home, an Apple TV unit and a DVD player. Two to split from one of only two Tv outputs, the other Tv output alone to the 3rd.)
The reason for the single to two outputs was to use both outputs for my home receiver's surround sound. My receiver is obsolete by it not having any HDMI inputs. Two of the 3 components had audio optical outs, the 3rd did not. Thus, was thinking the HDMI splitter would channel the component with no optical audio out through either of the other two's HDMIs, then to the receiver's single audio optical in (both optical outs to a 2 in, 1 out Toslink splitter).. Confusing? The geeks probably get it. So, not sure you want to use this for a publish product rating..
Can't afford to upgrade the receiver, yet. Not sure there is any other device(s) from no luck yet researching that can do what I had in mind? Help?
