As you might hope, the title for this product is wrong. It doesn't make sense to be what it claims anyway. I bought this cable in the hopes that it was wrong. I pinned it out and everything. This is a DVI-I splitter to get the digital component into DVI-D and the analog component into VGA. There is absolutely no analog signal in the output DVI port. So if you want it to be a DVI-A to DVI-A for some strange reason, it ain't gonna happen.
I bought this to use with a KVM switch that I have. The KVM switch has DVI-I Input and output. Because of this I can use various adapters to put either digital or analog signals through my KVM. I have a display that has both VGA and DVI-D input and it will autoselect its source. By using this splitter on the KVM and connecting the monitor to it, using both the VGA connector and the DVI-I connector, I can connect and video source into my KVM (With the appriate connector) and the monitor will pick up the source no matter what. This was worth every penny.
Product was delivered correctly (after being sent the wrong item the first time). It didn't do what I was expecting, but I found out it's just a limitation on my end. That being said, I would definitely order from monoprice again in the future.
Those expecting it to work magic on their video card to double their outputs need to look at the capabilities of their video card. Simultaneous output of digital and analog is only available on some pro gear.
PROS: This does exactly what it is supposed to do - split out the analog pins on the DVI-I connector to a VGA jack and the digital pins to a DVI-D jack.
CONS: None if you are using this correctly with your video source.
