If splitting to a 1080P AV Receiver and a 4K TV would the first device turned on carry the EDID or is there a selection option on the splitter? (my AV Receiver is always on, even in standby)
    Sean W on Dec 1, 2017
    BEST ANSWER: Hi Sean,

This splitter will allow you to choose the EDID based on the unit that is connected and on first, or that of the display (by choosing the TV option). the downside to this is that the splitter will copy the EDID from the display, and if the display only supports 2.0 audio, the AVR will only output in 2.1 audio. The EDID function is really meant for supporting displays with different native resolutions. If you would like to connect a single source to both an AVR and a 4K display, we would recommend you use an HDMI audio extractor device. like PID 13347, Thank you for asking.
What is the longest hdmi cable you can connect to this splitter?
    Eric M on Jun 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have this connected to a 60' cable from my HTPC and one of the four outputs is to a 75' Cabernet cable and it all works like a champ

Can we look at several tv's at the same time?
    A shopper on Jan 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can. I have three TVs hooked up to it and can watch them all at the same time. They are in different rooms on different floors on a single satellite box.
Does this "amplify" the signal? Or just distribute it? How long of a run can HDMI carry a signal? I need 50 ft to the splitter, then 60 ft more for 3 outputs.
    A shopper on Aug 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This splitter equalizes the signal allowing longer distance cable runs - within limits. We use the Blackbird splitter for signage to 4 TVs in our church. The run from the PC to the splitter is 30', and from there the max distance with a passive cable to the TVs is about 50'. A 75' cable to one of the TVs dropped the connection every few days. We have now converted 3 of the TV cables to HDMI over ethernet. These runs are up to 150' from the spliiter. With the current setup, this splitter has been very stable during the past six months. Of course, there are many factors involved here so your mileage may vary.
Can I use this to split a signal between my DirecTV receiver as input and a TV and Home Theater amp as output?
    David G on May 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Some Amps/Receivers will not process just audio and may require a video signal to be output from it when using HDMI. So depending on your Home Theater Amp, it may or may not work. We do offer a 30 day return policy should you wish to try it out.

Will this work if I plug in a HDMI to VGA adapter?
    New User U on Nov 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It should work either way coming from monitor into splitter or from splitter to multiple screens. It's powered so it's active. We used cat5/hdmi extenders just fine.
How many AMPS does this splitter use at 120V ac input?
    New User U on Aug 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It plugs into a 120 outlet but it uses only 5 volts D.C. Power. I can't read the very small print but it's less than .5 amps.
Does this unit have a remote control?
    Craig S on Jan 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does not include a remote control and there's no need for one. It's always powered on and it splits the signal 4 ways. (It's not a switch.) My cable box signal is the input and my 4 tvs are the output.
If I have a 4k, 1080 and 720 tv hooked up to this splitter, will the display be 720 on all or will it display in the highest resolution on each tv?
    A shopper on Jan 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It will display the highest resolution from the source it's getting signal from. If your source is 1080 some 720 will not work
Does this item maintain independent EDID settings by output device?
    Steve M on Dec 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. Unfortunately it is not independent on EDID for each output but will use the functions that are supported across all devices. I hope this helps, thank you!
I understand this will not work with a Dish Hopper 3.
But has anyone tried it with a Dish Joey? I plan on using it to split the output of a wired Dish Joey 3.0

Blackbird 4K Pro 1x4 HDMI Splitter
After a couple of less than acceptable experiences with 1x2 splitters, the Blackbird 4K Pro solved my problems. Using the "TV" setting results in a dynamic adjustment to disparate resolutions connected to the outputs, maximizing each displays own resolution individually. I'mCL2 using fiber to the main theater and Cabernet to the kitchen and deck displays.

PROS: Ease of use and perfectly suited to a variety of display/cable combinations.

    CONS: None

    Only one flaw for me.
I like this thing a lot but it doesn't do one thing I hoped for. I have a bunch of friends over for Monday Night Football in an L shaped room. In order for everyone to see a TV I need two and sometimes three. The two out splitter I used before gave me perfect sync between the two TVs. This splitter, whether I use two or three TVs doesn't keep all three in perfect sync. Everyone in both areas can hear both TVs and there is a disconcerting echo. I plan to contact Monoprice to ask about a three or four way HDMI splitter that keeps all the TVs in sync like my old two way splitter did.

    Love it
Runs cool. Switches quickly. All lights are on the same side. I am using it with a DirecTV HR24-500 and it works great. I was successfully using a J-Tech Digital TM 4 Ports HDMI 1x4 Powered Splitter Ver 1.3 10.2Gbps
Item Number: 221798258369 on my HR20 but when I upgraded to the HR24, the J-Tech splitter would no longer work even when only asked to split 1080p quality.
My HR24 is plugged into the input of this Monoprice splitter.

    Works Great
Unit installed, tested, and used last week and worked well with our church video system. It was powered off-and-on remotely many times and had no 'syncing' problems as reported on other models. Although it is a small unit, it does not feel cheap and the cable connections felt secure.

    PROS: small, easily 'hidden'
    Indicator LEDS helpful
Like that the incoming cable port was centered on the unit instead of at one end—off balancing the unit/installation
No video problems seen as a result of long cable runs to and from the unit since it was installed in the ceiling of the auditorium

    CONS: None found

Blackbird 4K Pro 1x4 HDMI Splitter
The Blackbird 4K Pro 1x4 HDMI Splitter with HDCP 2.2 and EDID support works great. Have not have any issues with it over the past four months after being installed in the drop ceiling over our auditorium.

Does what it's supposed to do.
And it's significantly smaller than the VGA distribution amplifier it replaced. (The monitors have both VGA and HDMI inputs.)
