10ft Coaxial Audio/Video RCA Cable M/M RG59U 75ohm (for S/PDIF, Digital Coax, Subwoofer & Composite Video)
5x1 Digital and Analog Audio/Video to HDMI® Converter Switch
Do you have a Wii®, PS2®, PS3®, Xbox 360®, and PC, and are looking for a way to hook them all up to your big-screen HDTV? Or are you an AV enthusiast with an older AV receiver, without HDMI® inputs and some older equipment with only DVI or Component outputs? This Converter/Switch is just what you need!
Until now, most AV switches supported just one type of video input - either component or HDMI, but not both. And if you have DVI, well, you've got to buy a converter to turn it into HDMI before you can use that. Now Monoprice offers the ultimate power-user's Video Converter Switch with HDMI, DVI, and component video inputs, plus a built-in converter module for HDMI video output.
The unit has two HDMI inputs, which is normal enough and lets you plug in your PS3 and Xbox360. The third input is set for DVI (digital, single-link) signals, so you can connect to your PC. The last two inputs are Component (YPbPr) video, so you can add your Wii and PS2. The DVI and Component inputs each allow for Analog stereo L/R, Digital Coaxial, or Digital Optical (Toslink) audio inputs.
The output of the unit is standard HDMI for your HDTV or for use with another switch, splitter, or HDMI matrix. Along with the audio on the HDMI signal, it also simultaneously outputs audio in Analog stereo L/R RCA, Digital Coaxial, and Digital Optical Toslink, so you can connect to your amplifier and get a room full of sound, no matter what type of inputs it supports.
Switching between inputs can be done manually with front panel controls, by using the included remote control, or by hooking up a computer to the RS232 connector and sending programmed signals. The unit remembers which input source was last used and will return to that source whenever it is powered on.
So, whether you're a power gamer or an AV enthusiast with older, but still serviceable, equipment, this Converter Switch is just what you've been looking for!

Sadly, My old receiver had a connection that was not covered by this unit: a Record Player.
I could plug in a Raspberry Pi to just the "Y" channel of the component and get a signal to go across, but unless there was some sort of video signal, there was no way to send the sound across the HDMI. I will be asking for a return. This unit was much more expensive than the simple HDMI switchers offered elsewhere on this site, and I cannot justify the cost for myself in this case.
converts DVI or Component to HDMI
Cobmines analog or digital sound with picture seamlessly
IR extender helps get the IR receiver out of the cabinet
CONS: Sound is not carried without a video signal
PROS: This unit is the perfect solution to using new devices with older A/V systems. My entire A/V system is built around it. I have experienced very few problems except for the ones listed in cons section. The unit converts audio and video flawlessly and all audio outputs are active at the same time. It is exactly the type of device I was looking for.
CONS: I have 2 minor issues and one MAJOR issue. The first minor issue is that the unit will not switch inputs without cycling the power after the unit has been in use for a few hours. The second minor issue is that the red LEDs are WAY too bright on the front panel.
My major issue is this: the unit simply stopped working after 15 months, and it only has a 12 month warranty! It powers on, but will not switch inputs and outputs no audio or video. Extremely disappointing. I would expect a nearly $100 unit to last longer than this. To Monoprice: do you guys want to make this right by replacing the unit or at least giving me a great price on another one? I feel cheated. My review would have been 10/10 if the unit had not failed!
The product will not switch to a component source if the device attached is not powered on. I wish that could be overridden, but again, the serial communication made it easy to program around that.
All in all, great quality product that offers a well-designed solution for a likely common problem at a great price point. Even the cons I listed were nor so much negatives as they are suggestions for features that would make this product even better! Thanks again, Monoprice!
PROS: Converts multiple formats to HDMI output
Support for Analog RCA, Toslink and Coaxial Digital audio
RS-232 control with simple protocol and unsolicited feedback.
CONS: Would like to be able to tweak some more settings. Audio levels can vary from source to source, would love some input gain compensation.
Conversion of component sources seems rather hi-gain, video-wise. Would be nice to adjust that.
PROS: Concept of the switch was great-this was the only place I could find a switch like this
CONS: Unfortunately it did not work to convert my HDMI equipment to a DVI and R/L audio output for my older TV
Worked with Monoprice support on 2 or 3 occasions to try and get this to work on my projector but all attempts failed. Monoprice support and return process was FANTASTIC. This product just did not meet my needs based on it's advertised description. That being said I am and will remain a loyal customer.
PROS: Simple. Good Variation of connection types.
CONS: 1st unit showed up DOA. 2nd unit worked, but only on a TV that supported HDMI input. Optical ports were a bit flimsy.
CONS: Can't get it to work
Not all that big of a deal though, since I have to be present to load /
unload a DVD or Wii disk anyway.
I would recommend this product for use in a similar situation.
PROS: solved the "limited Number" of HDMI ports un my tv issue
CONS: the remote quit functioning after 2 days
PROS: Works exactly as described. No unexpected issues.
CONS: Its big, 17 or so inches - it would be nice if it was smaller - but honestly I'm not sure that's even possible with the number of connections on this thing.
The indicator lights are bright, as mentioned in other reviews - but not really a big deal for me.
PROS: Outstanding piece of equipment. Good design, solidly built, does everything as represented, good price.
The Harmony knows all the IR codes and features for this device so that's all sorted and rolling--and I can put off a new receiver purchase for another generation or two.
